Trek 7:18:54 [3] 15.85 km (27:42 / km) +707m 22:39 / km

Retreat back down the low route on the Muller Glacier to Mt Cook. Climbed up to Muller hut near the end as we were sick of walking on morraine and unsure what the end of the glacier looked like otherwise conceivably we could have packrafted across.

Trek 2:10:13 [3] 5.39 km (24:10 / km) +1446m 10:19 / km

First attempt to get into the Dobson. Following the guide book route. Seems that glacier recession has made this route less feasible especially in the summer. Hut book has very few entries relating to this route, maybe 1 or 2 groups have tried in the last 10 years, one of which was unsuccessful by the fact their body was found in a gully after they didn't make it.... Ryan went a lot further down to scope out other options but ultimately these proved not viable. So back up the scratchy dodgy scree.

Trek 43:16 [3] 1.32 km (32:41 / km) +126m 22:08 / km

Attempt 2 - try the high route. Got to crampons on time and I pussed out a bit. Was not comfortable to be follow a series of sketchy looking patches of snow, up and down an exposed face, with a large drop off to the valley below... so we retreated back to the hut. We also we running out of time as it was snowing in the morning, leading to a delay in leaving the hut until around 3pm and returning about 5:30pm. More daylight and we could have maybe done a better job about getting down? not sure? Ryan and Rowan (his mate) seemed to be fairly convinced the high traverse was the only way down.

Trek 11:57:25 [3] 17.42 km (41:12 / km) +1960m 26:22 / km

Got up from our Bivy spot and made our way through Sladden Saddle. Went up Mt Sealy, although I didnt make it that far from the edge of the snow. From there is was exposed loose rock and I didnt feel all that comfortable so I waited while the others climbed to the top. GPS trail is stolen from Ryan so it shows him going to the top. Once down again, we cut around the front side of the next mountain ridge on a scratchy scree slope followed by some intense concentrated down climbing. The final push to the hut was also a lot tricker than anticipated an also involved some more scratchy down climbing.

Trek 6:40:43 [3] 7.36 km (54:29 / km) +1172m 30:19 / km

After doing the car shuttle to the top of lake Ohau and getting oursleves sorted we finally left the car park. Headed up just past Muller hut to find a nice little spot which someone had had spent a lot of time preparing.
