Running 22:00 [3] 3.55 km (6:12 / km) +30m 5:57 / km
weight:76kg shoes: New Balance 851

Did a sprint distance run after work through Bicentennial Park down to north Strathfield after taking my shorts and running shoes in my bag for about the last 3 weeks. Felt heaps better for it, evnen though it was very hot outside.

Hopefully this will be the start of some decent training from now on. No excuses. I have all of Sydney to explore.

Surprisingly since moving to Sydney I have lost 9-10kg. I don't know how I still eat crap, although cutting out the drinking seems t ohave helped

Orienteering (Aust Relays) 43:21 [4] ** 4.5 km (9:38 / km)
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw - spikes

Felt I majorly let down my team mates in this event, being defending champions in Sledge and all. absolutely buggered 2 by running up to correct major gully and missing the control which was hidden in a pacth of green. Spent 10 mnins looking for another non existent gully in the area and ended up off the map. Reasonably consistent to the end with a slight wobble on 11.

Orienteering race (Australian Long Champs) 2:23:10 [4] ** 11.3 km (12:40 / km) +300m 11:11 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw - spikes

What is it with spur-gully terrain? Turned what looked simple in the map to a disatrous start and made teh classic drift to far left error on 1 taking 19 mins. Then 3 was a complete mystery 40 mins for the first three controls and another 9 km to go. Settled into a rhythm for the remainder. Felt absolutely flogged going up the hill to 13. A control in a pacth of dark green in a erosion depression is a bit of a tough call at teh end, as is leaving off the legend off the map and mapping logs as brridges which look like rockfaces after 100+ mins in the heat. Autopilot until the end.

Orienteering race (Australian Sprint Champs) 25:01 [4] ** 4.0 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Salomon Trial

Started 1 minute after Louis and saw him coming back to the first control. Tried to hang on. Stayed witihin attacking range until 8 and then hit a chain fence while trying to jump it. Never really recovered and mucked up 14 then coming out of the spectator control had a brain fade towards 20 and went round the back of the pavillion. Happy with my run but annoyed it wasn't a little bit faster.
