Orienteering race (Australian Long Champs) 2:23:10 [4] ** 11.3 km (12:40 / km) +300m 11:11 / km
shoes: Inov8 Mudclaw - spikes
What is it with spur-gully terrain? Turned what looked simple in the map to a disatrous start and made teh classic drift to far left error on 1 taking 19 mins. Then 3 was a complete mystery 40 mins for the first three controls and another 9 km to go. Settled into a rhythm for the remainder. Felt absolutely flogged going up the hill to 13. A control in a pacth of dark green in a erosion depression is a bit of a tough call at teh end, as is leaving off the legend off the map and mapping logs as brridges which look like rockfaces after 100+ mins in the heat. Autopilot until the end.

Orienteering race (Australian Sprint Champs) 25:01 [4] ** 4 km (6:15 / km)
shoes: Salomon Trial
Started 1 minute after Louis and saw him coming back to the first control. Tried to hang on. Stayed witihin attacking range until 8 and then hit a chain fence while trying to jump it. Never really recovered and mucked up 14 then coming out of the spectator control had a brain fade towards 20 and went round the back of the pavillion. Happy with my run but annoyed it wasn't a little bit faster.
