running 1:00:00 [2]

Ran but also stopped frequently to look at something on the map. I was on the trails/grass/forest of the Riverfront Park map (started from the dog park/disc golf parking). The map needs work before we use it. The current plan is to have the January 1 event on the map. It'll be fun to have some very unusual terrain. Setting courses will be a bit of a challenge as the map is long and very narrow.

I jogged a bit on the levee on the way back. I chatted a bit with a runner who was just past 21 miles on a 24 mile run. He's training for the Garmin Olathe Marathon.

Note

We got some sad news this afternoon. Reta Roe passed away. I knew she'd been doing poorly and the news wasn't entirely unexpected. Sad. She will be missed in the local orienteering community.

Reta would be at almost all of the local events (and she travelled a fair amount, too). She did a lot of work for PTOC. She made maps. She set courses. She worked registration.

If you ran the Possum Trot a few years ago at the Park University campus, you ran on one of her maps. You may remember that race - the course started on a sprint map of the campus, then went into a special map of an underground cave, and then came back up and finished on the sprint map.

Reta was possum on Attackpoint.
