running 45:00 [2]

Took Mom and Ron to the airport (on their way to Riga).

I stopped at McHenry Park (formerly known as Tiffany Springs Park) on the way home. I'd spotted a lot of trails mapped on open street map. So I ran a KP map yesterday. When we lived in KC, we ran there occasionally. I was somewhat familiar with the trails and terrain. I thought it'd be a bit fun to explore and think about the orienteering potential.

I shuffled around on some trails. I got drenched in sweat.

My main impressions: muddy (from last night's storms), lots of ticks, lots of poison ivy. Some of the trails were recently mowed. I think the trails on the east side of the park probably get more use. But the parking area was closed when I got there. I drove around (meeting a closed road and a closed flood gate on the way) and ran from the ball diamonds.

In the winter it'd probably be a nice place for some training. Compared to when we lived in KC, the park has more stuff (like places to park).

I had leg cover. I'm hoping the poison ivy won't be a problem. I stopped frequently to get rid of ticks. I think I managed to get rid of all of them.
