running 25:00 [2]

Jogging around to warm up.

running 15:00 [4]

I ran the Bonner Park test loop in 15:03.

I wore my light knee brace and was glad that the knee didn't give me any real trouble (a little swelling and a little stiffness, but I ran without thinking about it).

I ran a PR, but it was not a very good effort. I struggled with the pace and ran a bit too hard in the middle, paying for it on the last half when I slowed a bit. The PR was almost certainly due to nice weather (mid 70s and comfortable with a bit of wind).

orienteering 1:15:00 [2] ***

An amazing day today -- 75, low humidity, clear blue sky, roadside sunflowers in bloom, old Prince songs on the radio. It brought back memories of orienteering in the mid 80s (I could imagine Karan K. complaining about the music).

I ran around on the not-yet-finished Mount Oread map. I think it'll make for some interesting sprint orienteering.

I took a very bad step near the end and hyperextended my left knee. Some discomfort, some swelling, but it didn't feel like any bone and/or ligament damage, so it should be fine.

cycling 30:00 [1]

A little time on the trainer, first thing in the morning. Felt good.

running 1:40:00 [2]

Nice, easy run on the river trails and a bit extra. The weather was nice and my legs felt fresh (and I ran slowly).

Mary made it all the way out to the Mud Creek turn around (and back!), the longest distance she's ever run. Cool.

After the run, we dropped by Mom and Ron's to pay a short visit. We also ate -- a Cesar Salad (not as good as fish tacos, but good).

Note

My running streak ended today.

But, I started a new streak -- fish tacos. So far, I've eaten a fish taco every day in September. Don't look for the new streak to last long.

running 45:00 [2]

My plan was to do 75-90 minutes, hilly at PNS.

But, heavy legs + weak mind = cut the run short.

The highlight of the run was seeing 23 turkeys wandering around on the dam. That's a lot of turkeys.

running 20:00 [2]

I was very close to ending my streak. As I was mowing the lawn, I'd decided to take the day off. Then I spent some time changing the mower's oil and spark plug and cleaning the air filter....suddenly, my motivation returned and I put on my shoes and got out the door. I'm glad I did as it felt really nice to run.

running 1:10:00 [2]

I shuffled around PNS. My mind was wandering throughout the run, mostly thinking about some police investigative files I was reading this afternoon. Without getting into any details (because I can't), I can reveal that some criminals are really stupid.
