orienteering 1:00:00 [4] 7.69 km (7:48 / km)
ahr:167 max:177
PTOC red course at Wyandotte County.
Some snow on the ground made the footing a bit tricky, but not too bad. I struggled a lot to get up the big hill from 8 to 9. At one point I ended up having to back down and try again.
Matt S. beat me by 4+ minutes. I think it is a mix of Matt running faster and probably getting up the big hill a bit better than me. But, I can push myself a bit harder, too.
The map is new, sort of. The old map had more fieldchecking. The new map has the new trails and uses 5 meter contours rather than 3 meter contours.
The last control was a bit screwed up. The circle was at a powerline pole and so was the control. But the control was at a different place - the junction of two powerlines. Before I went out, they sketched the correct location in on my map. I made the mistake of trying to head straight to the control. That meant I got hung up in some really crappy vegetation. It'd have been faster to run the road.

Nice meal with maprunner and eelgrassman at AB's afterwards.
running 40:00 [2]
This is the 5 warm up jogs that I did as part of today's session.
The GPS track includes driving from map-to-map.

5 x short sprint courses that Mary designed for me.
I ran on 5 different maps: arboretum, Clinton overlook, Lichwardt (sp?), Burcham, and Mt. Oread.
Fun.
