Just the work commute. I figured a day off would be ok and it was kind of crappy outside. Though it is probably going to be worse tomorrow and over the weekend.
I drove to work today and headed straight to the trail at Clinton after work. It was hot (99F) and more humid than I'd like. But, I stayed in the shade and shuffled along slowly. I drank an entire water bottle over just an hour of jogging.
The Trailhawks were just starting their hills when I got back to the car. It looked like they had a good turnout - maybe 8 or 9 people. Crazy nut jobs running in the heat.

Note
M Bostrom's periscope while doing some Jukola training was fun.
Work commute. I had to stay at work a little bit late.

Row, row.
After biking home I was too overheated to have the motivation to go outside and jog. But, I had enough motivation to sit on the rowing machine in the cool basement and in front of a fan.
A storm came through in mid afternoon and dropped the temp (around 75F at about 3 p.m.). The rain ended by the time I was biking home and the temp was going up. It was very humid. I spent some time when I got home pulling weeds in the back yard and got completely drenched in a couple of minutes.
Another slow run on the trails at Clinton. We got started before the heat was too terrible, but I was feeling over heated by the end. Not much to do about that.

I also spent some time today watching the GPS tracks from the Swedish WOC test races. It was fun to see Anna Bachman do so well. I don't know her, but have been following her after Jenny mentioned her a few years ago (and started paying more attention when AB started running for IFK Lidingo). I don't think she was on the tracking but Emily Kemp's race was pretty good. I don't think there's ever been a North American at her level. Maybe Ted's best races but I don't think he was ever at the consistently high level of Kemp.
Just watching the tracking in real time is a fun way to get a feel for the terrain and maps. I only raced in that general area of Sweden once or twice.
I also spent a bunch of time half-watching the rerun of 10 Mila coverage. Fun. I love the running camera shots and Kalle and Lisa in the forest.
Now time to get some useful orienteering stuff done....some map drafting.
On the way in to work I heard someone yell "Hey, Mike." Turns out it was J from Ad Astra. I stopped and chatted a bit and learned about their move to Mass. That seems good.

Easy biking with Mary on the bike paths to/from Culver's where we had dinner. It turns out Culver's has a pretty good salad (with grilled chicken and cranberries).
