Note

Acck....went over to DN to see what the headlines were for today's election and saw a Jayhawk t-shirt wearing Trump voter:

running 45:00 [2]

Headlamp run on the trails at Clinton Overlook. Felt good and conditions were pleasant. My actual running time was 49:56. But, my rounding rule is to round down to the nearest 5 minutes. Maybe I should have just run 4 more seconds.

running 1:50:00 [2]

Long, slow run on the trails at Rockcrusher and Rockhaven. Some bow hunters were annoyed that I was on the trails. Some horse riders were annoyed that bow hunters were annoyed and said something like, "if they want to hunt where there aren't people and horses on the trail, they should go somewhere else."

I put out a few mini-markers for a bit of a training course. A few years ago I started doing that every 4-5 weeks through the season. I'll post a course map with a bit of info on the OK facebook page for people to use as they wish. In the past, I've been surprised at how many people have used the courses.

I got tired at the end.

Also, after the run I went to KU campus with Mary and we checked the control locations for Geo Awareness Week.

PTOC at Kill Creek. Fun but some junky terrain. The rough open can be grass that is over my head.

I had one place where my mind wandered and I caught myself before anything got to be a problem. I had one place (control 11) where I just got confused. I didn't quite understand what was going on with the map. I guess I was tired, too.

Mary fell pretty hard in that area. I think she tripped on barbed wire and went do knee first, with her chest landing on a stump. Maybe she bruised ribs.

I also tested a couple of things during my little 10 minute warm up jog.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. It was warm for the trip home, but the trip to work felt more like what it should be. In fact, it was chilly enough that I should have worn gloves.

rowing 20:00 [1]

Row, row,

Tomorrow we've got two local events: PTOC at Kill Creek and Ft Leavenworth's adventure race. Mary and I are doing the PTOC event.

MTB cycling 1:05:00 [1]

River trails after work. Still warm. I saw something about the normal high for this time of year being 60F, but so far the coldest temp we've had in November has been 59F.

My instagram feed is full of people in the snow in Scandinavia. I wish winter would arrive in Kansas.

We had just enough rain last night to firm up some of the sandy parts of the trail. I usually avoid the Sugar Loop because of the sand, but tonight I biked it and it was nice.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. The weather is distressing. It was so warm at 7 a.m. that I biked to work in shorts and a t-shirt. That's just wrong.

running 40:00 [2]

Jogging around on West Campus. My legs felt pretty good. It was warm and sweaty.

On my lunch hour walk I listened to a podcast about the orienteers in Sweden who died around 1990-92. I wouldn't say it was fun to listen to (e.g. is was really sad to listen to the interviews with Melker's parents), but it was interesting.
