orienteering 1:05:00 [2]

Mary and I went to Kill Creek. I checked some stuff for Mary's courses for the prre-Possum. It'll be a mix of park/forest sprint-ish course. Hoping the woods are a little bit nicer by next weekend.

I also went back to some of the controls from last weekend's event. I went to check out the place where I made a mistake and tried to see what was going on. I had some difficulty understanding the map AND didn't respond properly to the signals that I was getting. I was glad to have a chance to look more carefully at the area.

One thing that Kill Creek has is some Betros-style ditches. Jane and Lou both tended to map dry ditches that really had no business being on the map (though you could usually find the feature they'd mapped). Kill Creek was a map that Jane and Lou made and has had updates and changes, but I think some of the original mapping remains.

Very pleasant conditions. Hoping we get something similar next weekend.

Also, fun.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute. Very pleasant conditions - just below 40 for the trip to work and upper 60s to go home.

running 25:00 [2]

I shuffled around on West Campus with my headlamp. I went slowly (even for me!).

I saw a headline about Kobach advising the Trump administration. What a mess that'll be.

cycling 45:00 [1]

Work commute - chilly both in the a.m. and the p.m.

Lawrence had an odd feeling today. Despite being in Kansas, Lawrence is heavily democratic and Trump did even worse that previous republican presidential candidates. So there are a lot of us in town feeling worn out.

Note

Acck....went over to DN to see what the headlines were for today's election and saw a Jayhawk t-shirt wearing Trump voter:

running 45:00 [2]

Headlamp run on the trails at Clinton Overlook. Felt good and conditions were pleasant. My actual running time was 49:56. But, my rounding rule is to round down to the nearest 5 minutes. Maybe I should have just run 4 more seconds.

running 1:50:00 [2]

Long, slow run on the trails at Rockcrusher and Rockhaven. Some bow hunters were annoyed that I was on the trails. Some horse riders were annoyed that bow hunters were annoyed and said something like, "if they want to hunt where there aren't people and horses on the trail, they should go somewhere else."

I put out a few mini-markers for a bit of a training course. A few years ago I started doing that every 4-5 weeks through the season. I'll post a course map with a bit of info on the OK facebook page for people to use as they wish. In the past, I've been surprised at how many people have used the courses.

I got tired at the end.

Also, after the run I went to KU campus with Mary and we checked the control locations for Geo Awareness Week.
