Ft Leavenworth Adventure Series score O'. Lots of fun. I felt ok running.

One of the controls was in a strange area. I'd seen Fritz earlier and he warned me. But, I still couldn't figure out where the flag was hung. Paul C and I spent a bunch of time wandering around looking for it. From what Fritz told me at the finish, the flag was just tucked behind a tree.

This was my first time at Ft Lev for 2019. They've changed the visitor control center process a bit. You get photographed and fingerprinted. Then they print out a pass with your photo on it. It seemed to take a little bit longer, but going through the gate itself was quicker with the new passes.

I've got a plan to update the map. Actually, I'm going to start over rather than update the current map. I think it will be an improvement. I'm still planning to keep it an "adventure race" map (i.e. not as detailed as an O' map).

Preparing a simple base map for a new sprint map at Centennial Park. Mary plans to field check it.

While the lidar runs through KP, I'm also looking at results from the MTBO camp in Denmark. Fun to see Magus and Sanna (and My and Moa) biking for Lunds OK. Also fun to see some of my Lunds OK clubmates from 1989(?) competing. I also spot Frippe and Sonia R. in the results...and some cyclists from the US!

MTB cycling 1:00:00 [1]

Very nice MTB ride on the bike path out to Baker Wetlands. North wind made it a little bit of a chore coming up Kasold at the end, but otherwise it was a very pleasant evening for a bike ride.

When I got home and checked my email I found a note from Cristina-bot. No mention of any white squirrels.

At work I was day dreaming about getting home and doing a short-ish bike ride while Mary went to the gym...then I remembered that I had to mow the lawn. I cleaned up the mower a bit and then mowed for the first time of the year.

cycling 30:00 [1]

On West Campus to/from my run + a bit extra because I wanted to add a few minutes.

running 30:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (5:00 @4)

On West Campus and included 4 x Half Ulrik's Hill. I pushed the effort a little bit on 2 of the 4 hills.

A police car arrived and parked at the little parking/turn around spot right at the top of the hill. He seemed to be writing reports and waiting to be dispatched. We chatted briefly.

MTB cycling 2:05:00 [1]

MTB on roads/levee/single track. This was my first ride of the year on the river trail. I'm so bad at MTB technique that the first ride always feels off.

My legs were feeling a bit tired from yesterday's run. I was also inspired to do some biking after finding re-plays of the full live coverage of Cape Epic stages. I watched almost all of the first stage in a bunch of small chunks during the weekend.

I usually do a variation of this route in the summer when the weather is hot. It was nice out today (about 58F when I rode) and it felt so much better than biking on a hot day.

I made a small adjustment on my front disc brake before riding.
