Season opening event at Fort Leavenworth - urban course with each control at a historical marker. Lots of fun. Comfortable conditions with temps around 70.
I felt ok running, but slowed after about 40 minutes. I was second by a couple of minutes.
I met Max. Max is a very nice dog. I hope Max comes back to Ft Leavenworth events.
MTB on the bike paths. I had my map on the map board and spent a few minutes reading the map. I tested an idea I had about making it easier to keep track of my location without being able to hold the map in my hand.
NoLaw 5K. This was pretty much misserable, but not too terrible. Temp when I got home about an hour after the run was 90F with "feels like" 99F. I'm sure it was a bit warmer during the run. I'm not in good shape, but also my body just doesn't work in the heat.
I've made a 1:10,000 O' map of the part of North Lawrence where the course goes. I added a few controls to make a course where the best route choice is the 5K course. I ran with the map and decided to take 10 walking steps are each control location - both to get myself some little breaks and to give me some way of "punching" the controls.
Nice evening. I probably should have taken advantage of the comfortable weather and gone for a run, but I felt like riding my bike. I went out to Clinton. The lake level is down a bit, but it is still quite high.
Ran on West Campus, easy but a few hills (including 4 x Half Ulrik's). It felt very nice to be out - temp around 70 and a steady light rain the entire time.
Topics of conversation - none. I was all alone and had nobody to talk to.

Fritz told me that he's interested in an urban MTB O' map of a part of Topeka. I spent some time looking for data and created a sprint-ish map:
