Note

Now that Ivanka and Donald seem to be pushing beans, I may have to rethink some of my choices.

Note

Mowed the lawn. That seemed like enough for today.

running 45:00 [2]

I shuffled around after work. I carried my draft Lawrence map.

Conditions were ok - not too terrible and not as bad as I'd anticipated.

I should have mowed the lawn. I didn't. Maybe tomorrow.

Dinner tonight will have beans (and last night it had beans).

MTB cycling 1:30:00 [1]

MTB on roads, levee and single track (river trail). Hot out, but not too terrible because we had plenty of clouds.

On the way out I saw my friend Kurt in front of City Hall. I chatted for a couple of minutes. Kurt is nutty in a good way.

When I got home, I said "hey" to Patrick and Sandy.

I also learned the my US Representative was charged with felony voter fraud. That made me happy.

Sunflower Games orienteering at Gage Park in Topeka. Fritz set the course and did a lot of work updating the map. Very fun.

Many Sunflower Games sports were cancelled. Orienteering was one of the few that worked in a social-distance-mask-wearing world.

The course was fun. Fritz put a lot of thought into each leg. He also designed the course to keep us in the shade as much as possible. That was very much appreciated. Running the course reminded me of the old VP Fair 10K orienteering at Forest Park in St Louis.

We had decent attendance. Down from before, but good considering we're in the middle of a pandemic. As best I could tell, people were taking the social distancing and mask wearing seriously.

After the race, Reta came up to me with a ziplock bag full of beans from her garden!

running 1:20:00 [2]

Longish, slow and easy jog. I carried my 1:10,000 map of Lawrence.

The map is a summer project. I'm not going to field check the map. But as I run and spot changes, I'll make those. I can make a lot of improvements from air photos. I will also import some of the existing sprint maps from around town. This morning I added West Campus forest from Ulrik's map.

MTBO on West Campus with a bunch of controls. I followed the rule of must stay on pavement. That makes the route options more interesting.
