Day off from running and/or biking. I didn't even mow the lawn.

But, high intensity bean eating. I made black bean burgers. This was my third attempt and the best, by far. I've been tweaking the preparation a bit each time and nailed it.

5 PM

running 1:05:00 [2]

Jogging around on campus. I carried my map in my hand, but didn't look at it even once.

Sweaty, but not too terribly hot.

MTB cycling 45:00 [1]

A short roll on the pavement. Light rain when I began. Very pleasant. Sun and steam after about 20 minutes. Fun.

Beans today = 0. But I did have leftover pizza for lunch.

8 AM

running 1:20:00 [2]

Another slow jog in the morning. I felt much better than I did yesterday. Cloudy skies helped.

I listened to some of the orienteering podcast The Run In. It helps pass the time.

Not so many people on campus this morning.

Yesterday was mostly bean-free. Mary cooked pork chops with garbanzo bean "breading" and I made some hummus in the afternoon. But those hardly count.

7 AM

running 1:10:00 [2]

I got out the door by 7:30. That was good. I shuffled around with my Lawrence map in hand. I was on the KU campus most of the time.

Lots of people were out walking or jogging on the main campus. Lots = more than last weekend.

I kept the pace easy and took plenty of short walk breaks. I felt ok for about 40 minutes, then I started feeling worn out. Maybe I was a bit dehydrated? The last 30 minutes was a slog. Temp was 82F at the end with dewpoint in the mid 70s. It felt worse than that.

The heat advisory is still in effect.

MTB cycling 50:00 [1]

Ugh..."heat advisory." I rolled around on the pavement for a while and looked at my Lawrence 1:10,000 map.

We didn't have beans for dinner, but I had beans with lunch and we had beans the night before.

Now that Ivanka and Donald seem to be pushing beans, I may have to rethink some of my choices.

Mowed the lawn. That seemed like enough for today.
