cycling 35:00 [1]

On the commuter bike to/from the KU campus.

orienteering 35:00 [2] ***

Mostly a corridor course on the KU campus. I'm not really a fan of line or corridor courses, but it is nice as a change of pace a few times a year.

I felt overheated (temp went from 73-80 F while I was out and it was sunny). I'm not ever comfortable running once it gets above about 55F. Maybe in a month or so I'll be a bit more adapted to warmer weather. In retrospect I should have gone out a bit earlier.

I stopped to look at the work to restore Potter's Lake. They have drained much of it. I think they'll dig out some of the dirt and mud to make it a bit deeper. There seem to be two pumps at work. One seems to be pulling mud from the bottom and spraying it on the surface of the water. The other is pulling water from below the surface and sending it in a temporary pipe off to the north. I didn't see where that is ending up. Maybe I'll check it out tomorrow morning.

Still tired, sort of. I thought about a short jog. I settled on the stationary bike. I watched the rest of the knock out sprint from Finland.

running 40:00 [2]

Morning jog. I felt pretty good. But I'm still a bit tired. My calf was 100 percent. That's good.

Wednesday May 15 #

Need rest. So I rested.

Tuesday May 14 #

6 AM

other 40:00 [1]

Another walk/jog. I was super tired, but also wanted to get outside and move. I planned to jog and could have. I looked at my weather app just before I left the house. The air quality was in the "unhealthy" range. I know from prior experience that bad air makes running feel crappy. So I figured a lighter session - plenty of walking - would be OK. I guess it was. I could see plenty of haze in the distance and a general yellow-ish light. My calf was fine. Normal, even.

While watching the Finnish knock out sprint champs coverage.

Busy day. My uncle is visiting. We drove to Abilene to visit the Eisenhower presidential museum. We broke the visit in two chunks with lunch at the "Brookville Hotel" as a break. Felt like a long day, but interesting and fun.
