Saturday May 25 #

8 AM

cycling 35:00 [1]

To/from campus plus a little bit extra. Nice out.

running 50:00 [2]

I shuffled around campus. I did - sort of - my April hilly course. But there is even more construction on campus than a week ago. Now there are 2 controls I couldn't get to. My legs felt ok on the hills - just slow.

I saw 3 (!) foxes outside of one of the Amini Scholarship Halls. That was fun. I'd seen 2 there before.

cycling 30:00 [1]

I decided I needed to move around a little bit. I also realized I hadn't been on the folding bike in a long time. I pumped up the tires and went out. Fun. Kind of warm out.

Note

Just looked at the results from the knock out sprint qualifying for the World Cup. Then looked at the course with all of the DQs. Course setters really should avoid two controls in a straight line. Like that should be the first thing they check.

running 40:00 [2]

I woke up before the alarm. I felt sleepy. I almost went back to sleep. But I got up and got out the door. Another nice day for a jog. I saw 8 other people out walking or jogging (and 3 dogs). That's more than usual.

I'm taking tomorrow off work. I've got a 4 day long weekend. Not sure what to do with that time. One option is to make a new tiny orienteering map.

Morning jog. Pleasant outside (maybe mid/upper 50s?).

Another 10-mila coverage watching session on the stationary bike. I'm in the first half of the 2nd leg for the men.

The teams are more spread out than I'd expected.

running 40:00 [2]

Morning shuffle. My legs felt ok.

Dew point around 66F. Felt summer-ish.

The KU Police have a marked pickup truck. Strange. I saw the truck a couple of times.

After work while watching replay of the Swedish coverage of 10-mila. I'm about 30 minutes in to the first men's leg. It helps the time pass on the stationary bike.

8 AM

cycling 35:00 [1]

To/from campus plus a little bit extra.

I got out of the house an hour earlier than yesterday. Some clouds made the sun less intense. It was still too hot, but not as uncomfortable as yesterday.

running 45:00 [2]

Shuffling around and doing most of the April hilly course. Now that KU is out of session, there is plenty of construction on campus. Two of the control locations aren't accessible.

Lots of people out walking around campus. But a nice and quiet feel with the students gone (both on campus and around town).

I felt weak going up the hills.
