140c shoes: Salomon XA
Planned another 200-control loop to finish off the vegetation appraisal at Cuivre River (1:15). It was a bit warm and after about 4 hours I really felt like I was losing my focus. Since getting the vegeation right is the whole point of this remap, I decided to call it a day rather than press on when my head wasn't in it.
One shouldn't look a gift horse in the teeth, but these weren't really a gift, I won 'em fair and square. I don't think the Salomon's are going to work for me. They're not terrible, but the fit just isn't right. I'll try them on trail and see if they work OK there but they aren't workin' for me off trail. Oddly, they seem to pick up more junk inside as well. I don't know why that would be; the uppers come up just as far as any other shoe I have. Maybe the lacing system doesn't hold the collar as tight. Anyway, if I win CC again (big if this year given that it's the day after the Berryman 12-hour), I think I'll trade the shoes for something else.
