Saturday Dec 13

Running (Trail) 30:00 [2]
Warmup. It started snowing a wierd mix of big flakes and tiny ice balls just before warmup, so I figured the O-shoes were the safe bet.
Running (Trail) 1:04:49 [5]7.5 mi (8:38 / mi)
Pere Marquette trail run. 40th overall (of 600) and defended my Clydesdale title. Conditions were maybe a minute slower than last year, so ideally I would have run around 62 minutes. I'm pretty happy with this result given my lack of running this fall. Dave Frei finished a minute ahead of me to take 35th. Yvonne Deyo got 3rd in her age group.
Orienteering (Street) 20:00 [3]
Dave's Christmas Party Night O around his subdivision. A rather entertaining format where each control had a bunch of cards - either red or black. You could pick up 1 card at each control and you had to try to make as many black/red pairs as possible. I won with 11 pairs. Always nice to end the season with such a prestigious win.

Friday Dec 12

Running (Trail) 24:00 [3]
Easy out and back on the Lewis & Clark trail with a few pickups thrown in. I wanted to see how the 3/8" spikes did on the frozen ground (I had planned on using longer spikes for Pere Marquette tomorrow). Of course, if it snows as predicted, I'll probably just use my O-shoes.

Thursday Dec 11

Running (Road) 23:00 [2]
Easy jog round the hood. Feeling somewhat better, but still pretty spent. I'm not sure how much I'll have for Saturday. First really cold morning - mid teens.

Wednesday Dec 10

Running (Road) 18:00 [2]
Running (or something that might pass for running in more forgiving circles) over to the gym and back. Still pretty stiff, but loosened up as I went.
Gym (Cardio) 20:00 [4]
Intervals on the stair climber.
Gym (Weights) 24:00 [4]
2 sets, upper body only.

Tuesday Dec 9

Cycling (Rollers) 30:00 [2]
Trying to loosen up my legs a bit. Even walking is pretty tough right now. I guess a 2-hour race on no run training is not a real good idea.

Sunday Dec 7

Running (Mix) 25:00 [2]
Warmup.
Orienteering (Woods) 2:15:26 [4]12.2 km (11:06 / km) +380m 9:36 / km

Possum Trot VII. Good run for the first half then a bad boom that lost about 4 minutes and blew any hope of staying with Dave Frei and Nadim Ahmed. My legs finally realized that they hadn't run in six weeks with about 4K to go, so I wouldn't have finished with them anyway. Platt won and Spike dropped me in the last K so I finished 5th.
