Event: SLOC - Beaumont Scout Reservation John Smerek Memorial Scout Festival

Cycling (Road) 2:21:00 [3]
Over to Beaumont via Jefferson County (there's no real direct way there that doesn't use the interstate, so I figured I might as well get some hills in).
Orienteering race (Woods) 45:09 [4]*** 5.4 km (8:22 / km) +230m 6:54 / km

Advanced course at the SLOC Scout Champs meet at Beaumont (1:15). Straightforward navigation. Some route choice problems - mostly looking for ways to cut down on the absurd amount of climb. David's at the Pig, but Rob Wagnon kept me honest with a good run only a few minutes back.

Then I swept the Scout Champs score course (1:10). Seemed like it would make a good control picking exercise, but the legs were just a little long for that (and I was not moving as fast, either.) Still fun, picked up a few markers near the end.
Cycling (Road) 2:32:00 [3]
Back home, this time through Eureka to get in the 6-flags and Woods climbs along with a brutal ascent on Jim Weber road that I'd never ridden before (if I'd known it was there, I might have avoided it as I was getting pretty toasted.)

Advanced - Splits

Friday Mar 31

Event: Flying Pig X (OCIN)

Mapping (Woods) 7:08:00 [1]****
weight:182lbs
Long, hot day at S-F. Got sunburned and a tick bite. Also got a lot done.

Thursday Mar 30

Cycling (Trainer) 1:31:00 [2]
Easy spin to loosen up after yesterday.
C • Flying Pig 2

Wednesday Mar 29

Cycling (Trainer) 1:30:00 [2]
weight:182lbs
I've actually been looking forward to this workout for a while. Time to lay some serious bricks starting with a spin on the trainer.
C • somewhat related 2
Running (Road) 15:45 [4]2.3 mi (6:50 / mi) +40m 4:02 / km
30 second transition and then out the door over to the Y at a good tempo. Felt good on the uphill - definitely noticing the new G value.
Gym (Weights) 29:00 [5]
A short breather to drink and let my heart rate drop before 3 very heavy sets, lower only.
Running (Road) 23:00 [2]
I guess you could call it running home. More like staggering downhill. Got my legs back about half way home.
Cycling (Trainer) 1:22:00 [2]
Back on the trainer to bring the time up to four hours (4:06 counting transitions). Fun workout. Kept myself well hydrated throughout and was only down to 180 at the end.

Tuesday Mar 28

Gym (Cardio) 15:00 [2]
weight:182lbs
AM: Warmup on the elliptical trainer.
Gym (Weights) 22:00 [4]
2 sets, moderate, upper only.
Map Running (Trail) 24:00 [2]**
PM: Jogging between the parking area and the course.
Orienteering (Woods/Night) 39:00 [4]***

O-intervals at Forest-44. Five solid uphill legs and four easy recovery legs. Wore my VJ's for the first time since the heel injury. They felt OK.

Monday Mar 27

Cycling (Trainer) 2:30:00 [2]
weight:182lbs
Wanted to ride outside today, but it was cold and wet, so I hit the trainer again. Moved around a lot. Probably 45 minutes total in the tuck.

Sunday Mar 26

Paddling (Canoe) 30:00 [3]
weight:182lbs
At CC Lake w/ Doug up front and Amy in the middle.
Paddling (Kayak) 42:00 [3]
Then Doug & I did some more using Kayak paddles.
Cycling (Trainer) 1:30:00 [2]
Despite the nice day, I didn't get an opportunity to ride until evening, so I had to be content with the trainer.
