Cycling (Road) 2:44:00 [2]

Mellow ride in chilly, but otherwise pleasant conditions.

Cycling (Trail) 1:16:00 [2]
weight:175lbs

Met David, Jeff, Carrie, and their new fourth, Mitch for some AR training. Started with a fairly mellow MTB at Castlewood: Stinging Nettle & Blue Ribbon trails.

Paddling (Kayak) 1:04:00 [3]

Then we paddled up river to Tyson in canoes using Kayak paddles. I was in the front with David in the back. The current was really strong with all the rain last week, so we spent most of the time arguing about which side of the river we should be on to get more shelter. Jeff, Carrie, and Mitch were in the other boat.

Running (Trail) 1:02:00 [3]

Tyson side of the Chubb. Mitch is a really good runner and put the hurt on us.

Paddling (Kayak) 35:00 [2]

Didn't push too hard paddling back since we were zooming with the current anyway.

Orienteering (Woods) 2:41:42 [3] *** 21.1 km (7:40 / km) +725m 6:32 / km
30c weight:176lbs

This workout has been 3 years in the making. When I set the 3-hour in 2003, I figured David would be hard pressed to sweep. When he did so with ten minutes to spare, I promised myself that one of these days I'd go out there and try it myself. Today was finally the day.

It is Cuivre River (1:15), so the K times aren't as impressive as they might be at some other venues, but I was still pretty pleased to run it this well. Ran without a compass because I couldn't find mine this morning. Fortunately, that's optional equipment at Cuivre River - plenty of linear features to keep you pointed straight.

Running (Road) 1:41:00 [2]

Easy miles after dinner.

Note
weight:176lbs

Unintentional, but probably wise rest day. Was working in Alton, so no run at lunch. By the time we had finished dinner and got Baby-O off to bed the conditions had gone from 40 and rain to 35 and driving rain and howling wind. I decided I didn't need the run that badly.

Running (Road) 2:19:00 [3] 18.0 mi (7:43 / mi)
weight:177lbs

Fast finish run. First 10 miles in a bit over 80, then 2@14:00, 2@13:30, 2@13:00 (approximate paces). Finished with a 6:10 on the HS track and jogged home slowly from there.

Running (Road) 38:00 [2]
weight:177lbs

Easy lunchtime run with Jeff who must have eaten his Wheaties this morning, because we usually run this route about 3 minutes slower. Then, he had the audacity to accuse me of pushing the pace when he was running ahead of me. This sounds suspiciously like Spike's dubious "following from ahead" theory. Anyway, still in the easy/long range, but barely so.
