Running (Grass) 20:00 [2]
"Warming" up, although I was actually a lot warmer before getting out of the car. 17F start temp, but at least there was no wind or precipitation.

Possum Trot X at Heartland Center (1:10). Good run on a course that favored running hard. Stayed with Platt for a few controls, but then had to let him go. Ran the rest of the first loop in a loose pack that included Tom Carr, David Frei, Justin Bakken, and Jerrit Johnston and others off and on. Started to open a gap at the start of the second loop so I nailed it for a few controls and got alone. Pretty much hanging by a thread after that, but managed not to make any big mistakes. Finished 2nd, about 7 minutes behind Mikell.
Good area, nice course, and by far the largest Trot field so far. Nice that PTOC did such a good job on the 10th edition.

Event: Possum Trot Weekend
Running (Mix) 20:00 [2]
Warmup. Wanted to do more since it was so cold, but was a bit rushed. Felt fine for the first few legs, so I guess it was enough.

KU Sprint at Mt. Oread (1:5). Great course by Mary Jones on the KU campus. 2nd in 40+ (David was 3rd, death match now 5-2!), 4th overall. Seemed like a decent effort.

Power went out at 11:30 last night. By morning, it was getting chilly, so we went to the mall. Then we spent the afternoon and night at a friends who were spared.
After dinner David Frei called to tell me that the Castlewood AR has been cancelled due to the combination of ridges being covered in ice and the flood plain expected to be underwater by tomorrow. So, the death match continues at the Trot!

Picking up controls from the 3-hour at S-F (1:15). A dreary, drizzly day gave way to warm and humid, so I didn't push the pace. Of course, S-F in crappy conditions is still a better day than most.
Running (Track) 39:00 [3]
10x200@41.5 200R. Went for my pre-race dial-in after putting Baby-O to bed. Decided to run faster 200's rather than race-pace 400's because it was getting nasty out and it's been a big week for the legs anyway.

South to Valley Park, up Marshall (in 3:15, not too shabby) into Kirkwood. Then smaller climbs through Fenton, Crestwood, and tempo on Grant's trail. Union into the city and back out via Ladue.
Pleasant enough ride, but it seemed to take forever. I recall looking at my watch 90 minutes in and thinking, "is that all?" Not sure why I percieved it that way, pace was fine (about 70 miles covered) and I wasn't tired. It just felt like a really long time.

As I would normally have taken last Thursday & Friday off anyway, today was my first "official" day of being unemployed. Celebrated by hitting some wineries with Mama while Baby-O was in pre-school. Got in a decent run after dinner; legs feel pretty much recovered.
