US Team Trials Sprint at Haven Hill (1:5). Fun course. No big errors but lots of little ones. Mainly came down to running speed and today my legs let me down a bit.

Went out on the old 1:10 map to check out some of the more technical terrain. Not much of a confidence builder for tomorrow. I can read the terrain fine if I stop, but I have real problems on the move.

Thought about getting a run in but, after 12 hours at work, running in the rain seemed far less enjoyable than taking Mama and Baby-O to Dewey's followed by Cold Stone and then Kaldi's. At the last stop, Baby-O got to watch a coal train go by! Most exciting. Yummy too. Pretty sure an extra couple pounds won't matter in the sprint.

Down to the Arch, through Laclede's Landing and back to midtown. Stopped a couple times to check out the menus of some new restaurants on Washington Street.

So I'm on my way to Babler after work and make the mistake of calling home to see how Mama and Baby-O are doing. "I've been better," says mama. Well, it's obviously a trap, but I'm screwed either way, so I step right into it and ask what's wrong. Turns out Baby-O is blocked and mama can't get to the store to buy any prune juice because she's also blocked - the tree guys are trimming our tree and have her stuck in the garage. Well, so much for Babler. I swing by the store and get some juice and come home. By now, there's not much point in heading out; Baby-O is hungry because she hasn't been able to take a nap (oh, I forgot to mention, she managed to poop while I was getting the juice, but apparently there was a lot of crying involved). The upside is that mama is trying out a new recipe. It's a dish called "The Stack" that we've had at a restaurant that a friend of ours manages. It's actually a pretty healthy vegetarian dish. Naturally, we add wine and it turns out just dandy. The downside is that my chance to hit 172 by May 1 isn't looking so good, despite the fact that prior to dinner I had eaten a whopping 550 calories. I know if I hang around I'm not going to want to get out at all, so I head out the door while there's still daylight even though I'm still a bit woozy from the heat and the wine.

By the time I get to Creve Coeur Lake, the buzz is gone and I'm actually able to push pretty well through a control picking course. Woods are nasty around the edges, but quite fast inside. Didn't get too torn up despite wearing just shorts and a singlet.

This spring has been a lot of fun, but the task list at home is getting pretty long. So, a beautiful day spent on domestic chores. Actually kinda fun to just putter around the house and not think about competition for a while. Got in a short run after Baby-O went to bed.
