Terrain (Trail) 19:00 [2] *

Warmup on the Chubb.

Tyson test loop. PR, although this is the first time I've run it in winter - It's usually my summer back to the woods baseline. It was pretty hot (78F, high humidity), so it was not a completely bogus comparison.

Note

Kate's surprise birthday party. I've never been any good at social gatherings, whether as a participant or organizer. So, back in January, I recruited an accomplice: Kim Puzder, one of Kate's closest freinds. Turned out to be one of my better decisions ever as she thought of everything that wouldn't occur to me in a million years.

I went for a "workout" this morning where I picked up the last items, then took Kate and Baby-O off to the wineries. We returned to a house full of Kate's friends and the ensuing party was quite a hoot. Thanks Kim!

Running (Road) 38:00 [3]

Probably a bit harder than I needed to be running - proper pace for this loop is 40-42 minutes so this was basically junk miles - but it's been a pretty stressful week and I needed to blow off some steam.

In to work. Super frosty - I thought it was high 20's but it actually turned out to be right around 20F. Just before getting to work I noticed my bike making some wierd vibration sounds and figured the headset was loose. Turns out it was my waterbottle - frozen solid. I don't remember the last time that happened.

Cycling (Road) 1:18:00 [2]

Back home. Much nicer conditions.

Note
(injured)

Drove to work hoping to get in a run at Rockwoods afterwards. Unfortunately, I got a production call at 2:55 and by the time it was resolved, it was time to head home. A rest day won't hurt; might be a good thing.

On the upside, the deserted, wet S-bend on the Market street exit at 6AM was the perfect testbed for the new tires. My assessment: if you get a chance to pick up a set of Nokian WR's with 9/32nds tread for $300, do it. Exit speed was 72, which is as good as the Little Red Rocket ever did in the rain.
