Silver Rush 50. Holy crap, that was hard. Massive climbs and loose rock everywhere. After my third fall (which was really bad), I decided to walk the last six miles in. Seems like a lot of other folks came to the same decision because I wasn't passed by that many people. Not sure of my finish place; I'll look it up sometime. Fourth in 50-60 did qualify me for an automatic spot in the 100, so that was cool.

Full report.

Quick out and back from the aid station we were working for the Silver Rush 50 MTB. Nicely positioned aid station in that the leaders came back very shortly after the stragglers came through on their way out. Pretty much constant activity for five hours.

Back in Leadville, we found d that our reservation had been screwed up and, of course, everything was booked solid. The volunteer coordinator took pity on us and said we could be security guards and watch the start/finish site overnight even though camping isn't really allowed there. So fine!

Stopped a couple switchbacks below the summit of Mt. Evans and hiked the rest of the way with Yaya. 25 years almost to the day when I last was here (The Bob Cook Memorial race is tomorrow). A lot easier by car.

Then on to Twin Lakes for a 4 course meal with wine and a night in a real bed!

From Timber Creek Campground took the road to CO River trailhead then up Red Mt. To the Grand Ditch and back down on the fire road to Never Summer Ranch. With 2000' vert and 3 miles above 11,000, this was way more than I needed three days before a race. Good thing it's an event and not a race.

Hiking the ridge above Horsetooth Reservior in Ft. Collins. Fairly rugged trail, even at this easy pace, I should have changed into trail shoes.
