Little Woods Ultra. Super frosty at start; ran 12 laps (each lap starts on the hour and is a bit over 4 miles) at which point my back started sending warning signs that it had had enough of keeping me upright on an icy trail. Travis Redden was the only other runner still going, so I got second. Ran most of the first 8 laps with Bill. Pacing was good; run-walk combo had me in between 50 and 55 minutes on each lap. Definitely a fun day and, while I would have liked to have gone further (legs were still fine and I was in no danger of missing the time cutoff), I didn't really want to turn it into an epic test of will with someone as determined as Travis.

Yes, another day off! At least I my brand new pair of shoes all day, so now they've got maybe a mile of breaking in before tomorrw. Definitely taking this one seriously.

Another big day at work then had to take Yaya to Jazz practice. No biggie, I'll get some miles in Saturday.

Easy jog round the hood. Long day at work, which was probably a good thing as it prevented me from doing something nutty like running 15 miles home. Legs feel much better than yesterday.

Feeling a bit more beat up than I'd like going into an ultra. Not sure if Saturday was really that tough or if I'm still carrying baggage from my late fall schedule. Either way, on off day is in order.
