Easy walk on around the waterfront. Sure glad the marathon wasn't today. Even by 8AM when I got back to the hotel, it was warm and humid enough that I had to shed my jacket. Sun broke through right about then. By 9, it was feeling vey much like summer.

Pre-dawn pre run on the Mile. Light rain may help offset the crazy humidity.

Warmup inside the corral untit it got too crowded. Was standing around for about 20 minutes. Rain stopped so I wasn’t too cold.

Chicago! Pretty much my best running race ever. At least I can’t think of another where the difference between what I could have done and what I did was so small. That’s always a great thing, but to come up big on a World Major, well, let’s just say this is one of those days that will get replayed in my mind forever. 1254OA (of 44K, highest finish in a World Major) 6th 55-59 (of 1618, first top-10 in a WM).

Picked up my shoes at Fleet Feet in the valley and, since you can't get the world's best of anything and not immediately try it out, I went for a short run on the levee. Yeah, these things are for real. Not enough to turn a mid-pack runner into a champion but, given that I'm likely to be within seconds of 3 hours, these could be the difference between over and under.
