Sunday Mar 3 #

5 AM

Running (Road) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Zante 3

Pre-dawn pre run.
7 AM

Running (Road) 30:00 [2]
shoes: Vaporfly

Warmup. Nice to not have to deal with the corrals. The elite field was led out to the line five minutes before the start and we didn't have to be behind the line until 60 seconds to go.

Running race (Road) 3:07:23 [5] 26.22 mi (7:09 / mi)
shoes: Vaporfly

Little Rock Marathon. Brutal conditions: intermittent sleet/rain and a strong wind. Held 3-hour pace for the first hour (mostly flat 9@61:30). It felt a bit firm, but not way out of line. Once we got into the hills, it was clear this wasn't going to be the day. Simply couldn't make time on the downs with everything so tight. The last hour was flat, but by then I was so tied up there was no chance of getting back on pace. Still managed to pass 3 in the last six miles to finish 7th overall; 1st masters. I'm calling it a tough run on a tough day.

Saturday Mar 2 #

1 PM

Running (Road) 40:00 [2]
shoes: Zante 3

Actually several short runs scattered throughout the day ranging from 5 to 20 minutes.

Friday Mar 1 #

5 PM

Running (Track) 35:00 [3]
shoes: FastTwitch 8

Over to the track and then 1@6:50. Effort felt about right and I didn't break into spastic coughing fits so, who knows, maybe I'll run OK.

Thursday Feb 28 #

Note
(rest day)

Total shit weather out - any training would have been counterproductive so I moved the full day off up a day.

Wednesday Feb 27 #

5 PM

Terrain (Grass) 40:00 [2] *
shoes: Hoka Speedgoat2

Powerline out and back. Picked it up to marathon pace for about a mile. Felt fine, but had to pull down the buff to get enough air. So, I guess if I can get to where I don't need the buff by Sunday, I should be OK, but I that's a big if. Meanwhile, ditching the sick flag since I'm not really sick anymore, just dealing with the residual junk in the lungs.

Tuesday Feb 26 #

4 PM

Running (Road) 55:00 [2]
(sick) shoes: MT690

Central Park Sucker. Off and on with the buff as it was fairly warm (55F). Stride is improving but still lacks the bounce one associates with race week. Leaving the sick flag on as I still have some (but not much) junk in the lungs.

Monday Feb 25 #

5 PM

Running (Road) 40:00 [2]
(sick) shoes: Excite 4

St. Vincent the Humble. Back to normal pace, but stride still feels very heavy. Still breathing through the buff. Sauna and hot tub afterwards.
