Orienteering race 2:00:00 [3]

US long distance champs. Felt sluggish and tired already on my way to start which I had to run to a bit faster than wanted b/c of short of time (I had to go back to the parking to get my shoes), but thought it would still be possible to do decent race and stay within the 15%. But when I saw the map/course I had to immediately change my game plan, now it was just a matter of finishing and I entered Raid mode. I.e. going slow and steady would be the tactic. Struggled physically already to number one but got that one and the next np but made a minute mistake on #3 which arguably was the easiest one of them all. The big punch came on #4 and bye-bye to the steady part of my tactic. Lots of walking and then I looked to much on a competitor I had caught, although he had re-caught me so to say, and I dropped 8-10 min. Got the next couple of controls ok before another 1-2 punch. Not good. Anyways, the last part controls went fine and I kept similar pace as the 1:45-1:47 people but that was a bit too late. Overall, happy to finish!
