Orienteering race 1:20:00 [4]
Knee didn't seem to be worse from yesterday, so I decided to give the long a go and I am happy I did. The first few controls were ok, but relatively slow, and then I got a bit behind in my orienteering for a few controls, including one 2 min mistake, but after that, a very good race and I felt more and more confident troughout the race. I stopped thinking about the knee as well except of a very steep downhill section. Physcially I know I am in decent shape; I felt fine and not too tried at the finish. The pace I had was enough to take the win. Nice feeling.
Running race 20:00 [1]
Sprint at WP: despite some painkillers, knee was hurting when I was warming up. But despite the advice from my physio to skip the sprint, I decided to give it a go. That go lasted about a minute. Took me 1.5 minute to find #1, the top guys had 30s. That may not have been a bad thing though, because, obviously, it was game over for me, and I uber cruised the rest of the course saving some energy for the middle, I felt tired and taking it a bit easier did probably help me in the middle.
Orienteering race 40:00 [4]
Middle distance at West Point. Took a longer, but safer, route to #1 to get in to the orienteering, to get the knee and and the legs going as well. Drifted of fa bit to #2, but after that I felt the confidence growing for a few controls until a couple of 20-30 s errors back to back. Overall, it felt much, much better than this morning, but with a winter of no orienteering, I didn't feel as confident as I would like to, but 5th place and 3 minutes behind is still ok.
