Running 3:27:00 [3]

Marathon #3 - Chicago. Initial goal was to beat my Boston Marathon time but the last couple of week's sickness made me change goal to 3:20.
Started of running 4:30 min/km and I felt very comfortable. Ran with official pacers but so did lots of others so it was a bit crowded at times in the beginning, especially around the aid stations. Felt so comfortable around 10-15K that I even considered picking up the pace a bit but decided not to, knowing that 4:30 pace will eventually become tough to keep. Reached halfway point at 1:34:30 and 25K at 1:52:38. The next 5K was the first real drop, 4:45 min/km and 23:49 but still ok I thought, 30K in 2:16. Things started to hurt the next 5K though and 26:50 was a big drop in pace but nothing close that was what to come. Last 7K was ugly. Had to stop a handful of times and walked for a few times, and those last 7K took me 43 min. 5:20 pace would have been enough to make 3:20 but legs were done. Rail trail running isn't enough if I really want to be able to run deep in to the 30's without hurting. 2h of road is fine, but after that...

Aside from the last half hour, a great weekend. Millions of people on the streets cheering on. 12000 volunteers and 45000 runners! Very impressed by all this. Everything ran very smoothly. Weather couldn't be better either. Cool and sunny. Already looking at potential marathon's for next year.

Running 50:00 [1]

Same loop as yesterday to begin with, across the park and down to the lake where we joined a Swedish running group for a few km. We didn't go to the pier but ran west along the river to Michigan Ave and then back to hotel via Cloud Gate and the parks. Think cold is finally gone, just in time but tomorrow will nevertheless be a challenge.

Indoor biking 10:00 [1]
(sick)

Ran from hotel and through Grant and Millennium Parks to the lake trail. Ran to and around Navy Pier and then back. Felt good to be running again but it didn't feel easy.

Running 20:00 [1]
(sick)

Some running around during ARX training. There are definitely some good navigators in this group. I ran slowly so legs and lungs didn't really get tested. but...still a bit congested.

Running 40:00 [1]
(sick)

From Coronation and then Ginger Valley trail via Princess Pt. It felt great to be out again. Legs responded but I could certainly tell that they were not used to the motion.
