Running 30:00 [1]

BT from home to Chedoke and back. Super tired and super sore legs but good to be out for a few minutes to ease the jet lag. I saw a by law office by the Chedoke falls for the first time ever.

Note

Drove 9h from Oringen to mom's immediately after race yesterday so pretty tired today and just tried to enjoy the last day at home before heading back. Oringen was a blast and plans are already in the making for next year. I am very impressed by the rest of the family. Isak's course was as hard as it could be and he did great. Sure, lots of mistakes but he also nailed many very difficult controls. Lia also ran courses harder than she has ever done and aside from a few quick preparation sessions the week before, this was her first orienteering since the Ontario champs last fall. The family member with the best split was Adria, she won one leg the last day. By 30 seconds!

Orienteering 34:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Last stage and I hoped to climb at least one placing to equal last year's result but I gave myself some hcp by making 1-1.5min mistake on the first control. Did a parallel error going up a detailed hill and had to look around. It went well after that and I was 31st for while but three guys caught me at the end, and that was definitely an increase in tempo - not sure what they had been doing earlier in the week...I managed to stay ahead of one of them so final placing was 33rd, which is totally ok. Terrain today was a lot faster. It wasn't very hilly and lots of trails since this was the main xc ski area of the city.

Orienteering 43:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Much better today than yesterday but still dropped 2 min or so in the same hillside as yesterday! The beginning was very tough both physically and technically but I nailed the first ones, did a few secs on 3rd but all went well after that until the hillside one mentioned above. Finished 26th. Legs a lot better today too and tried to push it throughout the race. The terrain was not as rocky as yesterday either so that helped although there was one section I struggled getting anywhere.

Orienteering 42:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Middle distance today although it wasn't that much shorter, like 0.8-1kmm and it was a bad one. We had a few controls on the top of a mountain which had tons of open rock. I got the first two np and should have gotten the 3rd one too since I saw it but choose to ignore and instead turned 90 degrees. Lost perhaps a minute there. Some smaller mistakes on the a few more before I made 4-5 min on a very tough control. It was a small re-entrant on a very detailed hillside with tons of rocks and cliffs. Today's race was physically tough for me as well. Legs were tired from the beginning and it was a bit too rocky. 61st place and hopes of getting a new bib are gone.

Orienteering 41:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Day 2. Easy first few controls before a long leg. Not sure if I took the ideal route but nailed it so it was all good. The rest went well too so this was a good race. Placed 20th and 21st overall.
