Sunday Jul 28 #

Walking the streets of Stockholm for a few hours, so much more tiring than running Oringen, before escaping the city and getting in to the water.

Running 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 37:00 [4]

Stage 5 and the chase. Love the chase. Hot again. I had my best race of the week and didn't do any mistakes aside from a few hesitations. Today also the the nicest terrain. Advanced from 40th to 36th with one more guy in sight. I have been around 30th the last three years +/- 2 but this is close enough. I struggled the entire week with my running so I take it for sure. Legs tired all the time pretty much but not a biggie, just running Oringen is so much fun.

Running 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 36:00 [4]

Stage 4 and another hot day. Better prepared today but made a huge parallel error already to the first one. Recovered well after that but damage was done. Dropped to 40th overall.

Running 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 46:00 [4]

Stage 3. Very hot and a late start. Despite a minute mistake on the first control I was on my way, according to winsplits, to do the best race so far but halfway I more or less collapsed in the heat. I had to walk a lot, the last hillside was challenging both technically and physically and that made things worse. Lost a good amount of minutes here. I guess many other struggled to because I kept my placing in the overall standings.

Running 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 37:00 [4]

Stage 2. Similar terrain as yesterday and nav was not too difficult. I had a better race than yesterday although I have no speed in me at all. Drifted off a bit on the one long leg which probably cost up to a minute from the ideal route. Advanced to 37th overall.

Running 20:00 [1]

Orienteering 37:00 [4]

Stage 1 at Oringen. Overall an ok race. Sloppy going in to one control, I 'just' needed to go in and get it and was already looking ahead and lost direction for a few seconds. Dropped another minute in a flat and very subtle area, again not being accurate enough at the end. Legs tired but fought through it.
