orienteering (Route choice) 52:32 [5] 5.5 km (9:33 / km) +240m 7:50 / km

So I'm back but I'm only going to probably enter my orienteering training sessions just because I want to write out my courses and what went through my mind while I was running.

#1 - straight away I noticed all the green so Instantly decided to go around on top of the hill instead of contour through the green. The red line went straight through a major gully and instantly through me off...I then ended up in the gully to the right. Took me a few minutes to relies my mistake because every thing seemed to match up perfectly! Soon relised and jumped into the right gully. Lost about 6minutes here haha

#2 - thinking to myself just restart the race and take it easy. And that I did..no way was I running fast at all and my ankle was still feeling it from last weeks training but popped straight up to the track and into the rocks.

#3 - flowed Nicely through these straight up to the track and then back into 3. Wasted a little time in the circle to find it but got it with no dramas..15secs lost all up

#4 - just took it out to the track..this is we're most the climb was but took it easy since I haven't really pushed my speed yet.

#5 - came out of 4 wrong and started to go up to the track. Relised pretty quick and just bashed through the green and up the hill. Could see the control from the top of the hill so planned route to 6.

#6 - same as 4 it was nice and simple just straight up and around on the track. From this point I enjoyed the course a lot. This area should be used a lot more !

#7 - still just taking it easy up the hill and on the track. Came into the control to early and ended up in the green. Just bashed my way through and found the control but bout 30second lost

#8 - smashed it straight up the hill keeping an eye on my compass, on the track for a second then down past the big knol and up the hill! Perfect.

#9 - these controls were nice and flows but again not very fast. Avoiding the green by climbing up to the right the dropping straight down. Nice and easy in the circle. 5-10 seconds in the circle.

#10 - I'm not sure if it was a good idea because the water ourse was pretty washed and rocky but I went straight in to the gully and just led me into the circle nice and easy. Bit hesitant on route choice lost a bit of time.

#11 - this was a nice and flows control again. Was hitting everything perfect. Down the track across the watercourse but then I slipped and whacked my knee. Just chooses on into the control and out to 12. 45 seconds lost with walking

#12 - this leg was nice and smooth. Just crossed the watercourse and contoured around. Picked up the watercourse next to the gully and in.

#13 - felt abit rushed getting out so didn't have time to plan my leg. But it was tricky because of all the watercourses so I just contoured to the big knol and in. Fell into a hole covered in green like a trap!

#14 - got to the circle fine but I felt this control was stupid...getting into the pond was ridicules and I ended up coming in to early and fell in the pond because I thought it was grass...1minute lost here then to finish.

Going through my course I found that i am very happy with how I chose my route choice and simplified everything. I flowed through my controls. Even though I wasn't running very fast I still ended up with the quickest time due to consistent speed.

If this map was remapped it would make a killer middle distance area!

orienteering (Recovery) 33:30 [3] 3.4 km (9:51 / km) +160m 7:59 / km

I just went out again to have another session. Just like before not go hard just flow. I tried to focus on my compass more on this leg. Perfect..in and out smoothly.

#2 - crossed the track down the side of the gully and just compassed into the circle. Was a little low but I mean 5-10 seconds lost

#3 - nice and simple just up the hill..walked abit because I was abit stiff and sore from the session before. On the track for a little then contoured off of it into the gully.

#4 - was a pretty similar leg to one on the previous course so just took it easy on the track and payed good detail to the contours and popped on in to the circle. Same mistake again as this same leg just stopped too early..15 seconds on that from tech

#5 - just out up the gully and around the green. The green on this part of the map was pretty shitty so had abit more climb but I think this was the best choice.

The rest of the course was pretty much the last 4 of my last course so nice easy and slow but spiked most of them :)
