Wednesday May 28

Trail Run 35:00 [1]
Loop of Burbage Fionne - neither of us felt like running

Tuesday May 27

Hill run race 25:59 [5]3.5 mi (7:25 / mi) +300m 3:39 / km
Hallam Chase - A race steeped in tradition (it has been run since 1862, with some stoppages for wars and foot and mouth), I can only assume that the flyer for the event is also steeped in tradition as it was very discouraging of entering, hence a small field of 55 runners completing the race. Though some more had entered but were put off by the wintery foggy evening. I felt quitely confident at the start as I was given a favorable handicap starting 45th 7mins after the first starter, but more crucially a full 5mins before Phil Winskill who was last starter. I was first back by over a minute and got a nice big trophy for my efforts!! Somehow next year my handicap won't be as favourable I think! (Phil Winskill fastest with 22.17)

Orienteering race 32:31 [5]4.9 km (6:38 / km)
shoes: AsicsGel-1120
York City Race - Ran at 95% for this race, didn't feel too motivated espeicially after overshooting the easiest control (6) on the course and losing 1min30 (although quite proud that I was a full 30 seconds slower than any of the other 113 competitors to this 25second leg!!!) - I was too busy planning the next long leg to 7... I guess there is a lesson to be learnt from this! Finished 4th despite the mistake, though the depth of competition was 4.
