Note
(rest day)

Going to the dentist at 7am stole the morning workout slot, boo. And it's roasting today and neither the gym at Reed nor my office has AC, so will probably go home early... Today will break the Aug. 2 high temp record, but probably not the all-time Portland hottest temp of 107.

Crosstrainer 21:00 [1]

Normal elliptical, because elliptical nemesis already was on super-elliptical.

Apparently our gym roof nearly collapsed a few weeks ago. Initial report of one out of 5 trusses over the pool breaking, now referred to as 'catastrophic' failure. So probably no pool at Reed until next summer.

Stairmill @ 68 spm

Was kinda in the zone today on the machines, didn't mind either so much.

Woo, got the super-elliptical for some pre-Pilates work! And friend Ralph was there, so chatted through some of it after he'd finished his normal-ellitpical session. Chatted about survival plans for upcoming heat wave. Mine: use our AC. His: go crash at girlfriends house that has AC. Should work. The question is how long to remain at work in the afternoon, where there is no AC...

Strength 30:00 [1]

Very chill Pilates session. A good chunk was kinda of foot message with little squishy balls, rolling them around under your foot. Which is fine and pleasant, but not as much of a workout. Ah well, was a substitute for Vicki as she's on vacation this week.

Cape Horn hike with Tom

Columbia River gorge from the Washington side! Only one waterfall (it's the drier side), but lots of really good gorge views. Also got to see that one waterfall from both the bottom and top. Much, much less crowded than Angel's Rest. Must not be in as many guidebooks as a 'must-do'.

Definitely tired by the end! But we persevered and went to Ikea for a meatball-pick-up meal and nabbing a dresser that'll be baby's.

Holy moly it's supposed to be 110F in Portland on Thursday.

Strength 11:00 [1]

Preparation for birth class with Tom for a good chunk of the day. Only one other couple. Probably good to have gone to so we are less clueless, there's a second session next week too.

So did some of the prenatal yoga exercises on my own after getting back. Pretty tired camper today, for some reason.

Hiking 27:00 [1] 1.7 mi (15:53 / mi)

Morning walk to work. (Giving up on bike for now.)

Crosstrainer 21:00 [1]

Someone else beat me to the super-ellitpical this morning, so just on one of the normal ones. The final 3 Sierra hikes.

Prenatal yoga, woo! But a relevant question: is my favorite part of prenatal yoga getting a sandwich at the bakery next door afterwards? Quite possibly...
