BB: 21 -> 64 (Hmmm, not super.)

Orienteering 1:03:41 intensity: (33 @0) + (5:01 @1) + (6:29 @2) + (16:29 @3) + (33:32 @4) + (1:37 @5) 5.05 mi (12:37 / mi) +166m 11:27 / mi

Boulder Dash Day 2

Whoops- sprained my ankle on the way to #4 (of 20). Stopped, sat down for a few seconds, then tried walking, then tried running. It wasn't terrible, so I continued on, but dialed back. Which might not have been totally terrible, I might have missed more if I'd tried to keep going full speed, who knows?

Definitely did enjoy the orienteering challenges out there, had a few near misses, but did keep my head screwed on right and corrected when needed.

I don't think the sprain is all that bad, very optimistic about running the Billygoat still. (But someone do tell me to not push it if it seems like I can't run midweek or something...)

Boulder Dash Day 1 @ Hollis Town Forest, Red

Good race. Some hesitation to #10 (inverted contours, couldn't really see the stone wall heading E-Wish) and very slight hesitation heading into 14 - wanted to climb even higher, but checked my bearing and that wasn't the right way, so saved it.

Maybe Wyatt's flat ending route choice to #7 was slightly better, but think straight to #15 was fast, at least on the line I took.

Also, holy moly tough finish! I think I went more or less on the bent-around-hte lake line, but wasn't easy running at all!

Trail running 29:41 intensity: (13 @0) + (19:32 @1) + (9:56 @2) 2.59 mi (11:28 / mi) +54m 10:46 / mi
ahr:121 max:138

BB: 40 -> 90

Oooof, Martin spiked a fever, so a bit disrupted sleep in order to find thermometer/kids Tylenol/kids Tylenol extractor in the middle of the night. His Covid test this morning was negative, at least.

So run was just an easy joggeroo, back on the (yep, still wet) trail. But with leaps and bounds could keep the feet dry!

Probably going to the meet solo tomorrow and there pretty minimal time so I can return quickly + help parent. Hopefully Martin's illness is short and doesn't strike anyone else and we'll all be there Sunday...
4 PM

Hiking 29:21 intensity: (25:59 @0) + (3:22 @1) 0.85 mi (34:32 / mi) +25m 31:39 / mi
ahr:74 max:98

Stroller walk with Martin - saw a beaver! It just hung out munching little plants for a good minute, so we got to watch for a while. It looked like it might have previously been caught in a trap or otherwise majorly injured in its hindquarters, there was a big patch missing normal fur and it might have been waddling funny (or else beavers always waddle funny, I'm definitely not an expert).

Running 1:00:59 intensity: (12:12 @1) + (39:16 @2) + (8:54 @3) + (37 @4) 7.29 mi (8:22 / mi) +171m 7:48 / mi
ahr:137 max:162

BB: 32 -> 92

Interval day!

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 with half as much rest. Felt really good actually! Did on the gravel roads because the trails/woods are just sooo saturated.

Running 1:01:53 intensity: (23 @1) + (55:50 @2) + (5:40 @3) 6.68 mi (9:16 / mi) +177m 8:34 / mi
ahr:141 max:155

Just a road run because it is *so* wet. Hamstring felt fine during, so that's good! I thought I had opted for an hour where it wasn't supposed to rain so much, but it was still pretty rainy. Ah well. All the little streams through the forest are fun to see!

Stretching 9:00 [0]
ahr:87 max:106

And more stretching/rolling. Maybe hamstring got so tight because there was so much orienteer -> straight into car this weekend?

Note

Have been a little undecided about this week's plan, although knew yesterday needed to be a rest day. But here goes. Super-excited to run Boulder Dash - contemplated moving myself up to Blue to get my butt kicked and see where I'm losing time to the guys, but it's good to keep the level of competition high on the women's courses and it's basically perfect middle/relay training. (Plus picking up controls both days and don't need to totally overdo it.)

Anyways, the plan!

Mon - rest day w/ core
Tues - long trail run with 8 x 30s speeds, 1h30
Wed - easy distance with investigation into terrain intervals terrain, core
Thurs - terrain intervals
Fri - easy distance, drills, core
Sat - Boulder Dash Red! + short white with S and control pickup
Sun - Boulder Dash Red part 2! + short white with S and control pickup
11 AM

Trail running 1:04:29 intensity: (9 @0) + (16:08 @1) + (47:10 @2) + (1:02 @3) 5.66 mi (11:24 / mi) +117m 10:42 / mi
ahr:130 max:152

Harumph. Was fun running the trails, but then my hamstring started twinging. So gave up on the trails and jogged back... don't think it's bad, but can't let it get bad, so playing on the safer side... bah.
