With Emily. We planned out a great route and executed it pretty well but we slowed right down after my feet decided to develop blisters, like, everywhere after less than 9 hours. Was so frustrating as my legs felt great and I didn't feel sleepy. Poor Emily had to listen to me curse and scream a bit as the event went on. She still seems to be speaking to me though so that's good. Plus there was the great moment where I had to haul myself up a hill on my hands and knees...but it was 100 points!! So much pain...

I could rant about some of the controls but I don't really feel like it. The course was great and these guys stepped in to organise an event within a pretty short space of time for something of this length. Before my feet exploded I was having a great time.

Best time of the season...oh yeah!! Major hayfever attack on the way back where my throat and nose were trying to explode which wasn't fun. SO shattered by the end it took an awfully long time to get my breathing back in check again.

Nice little cruise around the Bowenvale Valley on a pretty much perfect morning. So perfect that I was tempted to run for much longer but I was sensible and didn't. Then headed to Hansens Park to cheer on my workmates.

Round and round Bottle Lake with M. Felt okay today after actually getting some sleep (despite getting up in the night to check on Molly Cat after hearing a cat fight outside our window). I like mtbing. My wrist really really does not. I (attempted to) ignored it.

Also, awesome shopping spree today! New headlight (yay!), new hiking shoes (M thought they looked so good he got a pair too!), new tights, new tops, delicious (haha) gels...forgot to get the flea treatment for the cat though.

Run attempt #1: I checked the light the night before and it was green and all good. It was not going in any form at 5:45am when I tried to turn it on in the morning, after driving up to the SOT. I was so tired I had a meltdown and it was far too dark for anything but road running under street lights which I was not doing.

Run attempt #2: the day got progressively worse after run attempt #2 with super super frustration at work so by the time I got home I was not in a good space. M promised me a massage if I went running though so I rode to the valley and started running up there. I didn't feel that good but it was okay. Then I did some tussock bashing which was okay but I mostly walked 'cause I felt so smashed. Then, kinda suddenly, I got the shakes so bad I felt like I wasn't in control of my limbs any more and I had to sit down for a while before a terribly slow jog down Albert Tce and back to my bike.

I didn't get a massage. But I did get pizza.

Pilates and some stretching. It's hard work man. Not quite as hard or as draining as spending, like, 6 hours on a damn date of birth field in a form though. My god, I think my brain is going to explode. What day of the week is it? I'm so confused.

Had bookgroup tonight so went for an early morning jog round the mean streets of St Martins and the great river of the Heathcote to try and loosen my legs up a bit. Must have worked as they felt a bit better by the end and biking to work on Miss Monaco wasn't so exhausting.

Hard work. I feel like my thighs were still smashed from Sunday (when they were still smashed from the previous weekend!) and then after the turnaround M had us in some super hard gear and I thought I was going to expode in frustration as it felt like I was battling my way through super thick mud.

From home up the hill then along the tops, round the bluffs and then on to Godley Head to meet the parents for a highly exciting, shaking, dusty lunch. Feeling so tired and hot and my tummy felt funny so walked a lot of the hills later on once I realised I had plenty of time. Pretty hot out today. So glad the parents hadn't decided to go and explore Boulder Bay. The timing would have been pretty bad.

Quite possibly out slowest time ever despite a wicked tailwind back. But the headwind on the way out was extreme and blew us all over the show. Terribly sore afterwards.

On the ever-increasing track (although we still managed to lose the track but that meant we got to avoid the climb around a cliff and went river sloshing instead) to Nina Hut where the track even started to have footprints in it! So SO hot. Got to have a swim by the bridge. It was cold (but exciting and very cooling) and I got water in my ear which still hasn't come out.

On an ever-decreasing track to Boscawen saddle #1 before leaving the track altogether for some good times sidling along screen to Boscawen saddle #2 before sliding down the other side, desperately trying to avoid the spaniards (and failing!) then boulder hopping/river sloshing down to the Nina where M was convinced it would be easier...which led to bush bashing and more river sloshing! Eventually made it to the Upper Nina Bivouac where the sandflies attacked us and M took photos of them from inside the tent!

Hot hot ride out to Sumner then up the hill and along the tops in the sunshine then the cloud with M on the tandem. Got thrawted by an endless train on the way out so had to abort and ride up the valley instead. Legs are TIRED!!

Gotta get the mileage and pace up in time for some fun times racing (and somehow fit in the running thing too - at least this time I'm not trying to do a cycling race followed by a running race the next weekend this time).

Fun times with Lara in the tussock. A bit hayfevery but otherwise felt quite a bit better than I did last week. A few very mysterious control sites but otherwise quite fun. Not brave enough for the madness down the back of the Sugarloaf but keen to explore in a non-rogaine situation!

M dropped me off at the Fenian road end and I lumbered along through the beautiful bush of the Oparara Valley Track with its cruel endless uphill switchbacks. Met M at the gates of Moria.

Checking out arches and caves and tarns and wekas and all the good stuff with M as well as being scared senseless by wood pigeons! It's been really hot these last few days which is fantastic.
