Run (Summer Starter) 58:00 [2] 10.8 km (5:22 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Inspire 10

Cruising the Summer Starter with my workmates. Pretty fun really when you are encouraging other people to keep going. And it wasn't even all on the road which was pretty cool. I got Myles home in first place out of the Plato crew so that was exciting. It was a shame that summer didn't get the memo about the race and decided to take today off though.

Legs might actually be starting to get that twitchy feeling!

MTB 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: SH-WM43

Round the Foresty Lake of Bottles with M. I rode my own bike. I'm such a big girl. I am also not that crash hot at riding my own bike these days!

Friday Nov 27, 2015 #

Note

Went for a lovely cruisey walk with M up from Taylors Mistake for picnics in the tussock :-)

Thursday Nov 26, 2015 #

6 AM

Run 49:58 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Up and down the hill from the SOT super slowly. Legs feeling tired and slow. I am suspicious this twitchy, can't wait to run again feeling is going to arrive in my legs in time!

Wednesday Nov 25, 2015 #

6 PM

Road Bike 45:00 [3]

Cruising round the mean streets with M on the tandem before my MRI.

Tuesday Nov 24, 2015 #

5 AM

Run hills 1:48:51 [4]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Earliest start yet! Along the river then 1 x interval up Rapaki from the very bottom to the flat then 3 x intervals up from the start of the track to the flat. The last one felt a bit like I wasn't really moving but ended up being only about 10 seconds slow than average. Then a crawl back along the river. Pretty impressed with myself for doing 4! But my speed can't have been much more than just a normal uphil speed despite feeling awful.

Monday Nov 23, 2015 #

Note

Walking along the river with M after work to check out the house progress. Nearly time to return. Yay!

Sunday Nov 22, 2015 #

11 AM

Run 1:14:00 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Such a disaster. Was supposed to be 3 hours but nothing too hard so M drove me to the top of the hill so I could cruise out to Sumner. But the wind was so crazy it became impossible to run at all. At one point just trying to get across the road to the track on the other side was a huge battle. I was so frustrated and angry. Man I hate Christchurch in spring (and winter!!!!). Anyway, after a few detours with the wind pushing me back, I got down the Bridle Path to be rescued! Didn't feel much like running any more after that. I feel a bit like I've given up. Uh oh!

Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [3]

On the grass in the sun where there was hardly any wind (how is this possible? It made me think I was making it all up in my head!) in Viv's garden while M brought in the washing and Viv and Dave did gardening.

Saturday Nov 21, 2015 #

4 PM

Road Bike 1:25:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Cruising round the mean streets with M on the tandem. Checking out some valleys, including one I didn't realise you could ride right into and then looking at all the big houses in Westmorland. Silly me didn't wear my contacts since it was going to be a short easy ride - but there was so much to see that was just a big blur!!

Friday Nov 20, 2015 #

5 AM

Run hills 1:31:02 [4]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Hill intervals up Rapaki. Nice slow warmup along the river then 1 interval up to the flat section from the bottom followed by 2 from the start of the track to the flat section. Decided to just go to the flat rather than do 15 minute ones so that I can actually achieve them and fit them in before work. Plus I think I am not nearly as hardcore as this programme thinks I'm supposed to be by now.

Wednesday Nov 18, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Lots of rushing around to meetups and book group and all that. It is so cold. My wrist hurts more than normal too so thankfully M picked me up after all the rushing. I am so tired.

Tuesday Nov 17, 2015 #

5 PM

Road Bike 2:45:00 [3]
(sick) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

On the tandem with M out to the Blue Duck, or close to, when we found out from the bunch that the hill climb was cancelled so cruised slowly up the climb and all that jazz before the awful, freezing descent down the hill to home. Had to have a long bath to try and defrost. Also, feeling like crap after losing all my lunch earlier in the day and was too scared to eat anything else before the ride incase it happened again.

Monday Nov 16, 2015 #

7 PM

Run 1:01:39 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

I have no energy for intervals. Legs felt like big heavy trucks. Depressing.

Sunday Nov 15, 2015 #

3 PM

Walk 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 8

Walking with Mum along the peninsula.

Saturday Nov 14, 2015 #

2 PM

Run 3:08:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Round and round Shakespear Park in all sorts of directions and up and down every track going at least once, mostly twice or so, then back to Chris's house at the Big Manly Beach via a tiki tour of Gulf Harbour. There was a bit of walking because my legs felt tired, it was so hot (I am no longer used to this awful humidity) and my ankle and foot were a bit over it. The scenery was lovely though. And there was cake and ginger beer waiting for me back at the house!

Friday Nov 13, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Walking round town all day with Mum spending FAR too much money and eating A LOT of food!

Thursday Nov 12, 2015 #

5 AM

Run intervals 1:29:30 [4]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Hill intervals in the rain - what fun! Warmed up running along the river then up Rapaki where the first interval took me to about halfway along the flat section. Cruised back down to the start of the track and headed up again for the second interval which took me to just after where you start to go downhill again. Then back down the hill and along the river again. Wasn't too bad but I am pretty useless at intervals. To last 15 minutes up a hill means I don't think I'm going much faster than normal (meaning I am slow at intervals rather than that I'm fast running up hills because I'm definitely not)!

6 PM

MTB 1:10:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: SH-WM43

Drizzly ride up Huntsbury from work then a very wet ride back down Rapaki. Left straight from work after a long afternoon pinning up pictures of ducklings and searching for pictures of cats on windowsills. The standing desk is going okay but it was nice to be sitting down on my bike and my ankle got a bit funny by the end of the day which was kinda weird since it was fine earlier in the week.

Tuesday Nov 10, 2015 #

6 AM

Run intervals 51:11 [4]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Fartlek farty thing up the Harry Ell, around the back of the Sugar Loaf (extremely slowly as it was a bit uneven for my poor ankle) then down another way. I thought it was supposed to be 45 minutes but when I got back I noticed I'd misread my plan as usual and it was supposed to be an hour. Oh well, I was starting to feel pretty sick by 45 so probably an hour would have been a bit much this morning. Plus I've already butchered the plan enough times that I'm probably doomed for failure...or at least a very long time.
6 PM

Road Bike 1:25:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Up the hill and along the tops with M after visiting the Molly Cat. Thighs felt shattered to start with but improved heaps. Glad we didn't time trial as I'm still feeling pretty average.

Monday Nov 9, 2015 #

Note
(injured) (sick)

Rode my mtb to work intending to got for a ride after work but yep, the good times have begun and I considered going home from work at lunchtime - except having a bike makes that difficult when you feel that bad. Felt a bit better by the time I left but then, after visiting Molly who didn't seem that good, I felt awful again so yep, no riding for me. Not the best day to start the standing desk experiment at work either!

Sunday Nov 8, 2015 #

Run 56:24 [3]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Gentle cruise round Bottle Lake with M to start with until his knee gave up tehn trailed behind some huffy puffy bearded guy until I found M again. The ankle was pretty good although it hated the soft sand and I couldn't really run very well up any incline. Also my stride was a bit shorter than normal.

Saturday Nov 7, 2015 #

1 PM

Road Bike 1:40:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Tandem ride with M in the hills. Tried not to push too hard. The ankle was fine (a vast improvement to last night where it must have become swollen inside and consequently hard to walk on) except when M made me unclip. A few muscles in my leg feel a bit funny though.
If anyone else tells me that we are cheating when we pass them riding up a hill I might just lose my temper. For your information (not that you really wanted to know) it's harder and slower, especially in gravel.

Friday Nov 6, 2015 #

6 AM

Run 44:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#2)

Very much enjoying a cruisey run most of the way up Rapaki and down the valley until I put my foot down a nicely hidden hole and twisted my ankle. Had a bit of a freak out but it kinda sorted itself out after a few minutes so jog/walked the rest of the way home. Sigh. I guess it is lucky it is an easy week this week and there are still a few more weeks for all things to improve?

Thursday Nov 5, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Was going to do some stuff but am a bit stressed. We walked to the supermarket instead via our house. The paint is cool. I love the blackboard paint. Now I just need someone to draw all over it for me since I kinda forgot I can't really write on that angle any more.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2015 #

7 PM

MTB 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: SH-WM43

Cold tandem cruise up Rapaki and down Huntsbury. Too much pain :-(
Would have liked to be rogaining but this is supposed to be an easy week and I'm getting nervous and tired.

Tuesday Nov 3, 2015 #

7 PM

Run 46:41 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Around and abouts in Vic Park and round the back of the Sugar Loaf. Cold, wet and wild up on the hills tonight so I'm glad I convinced M not to TT tonight.

11 AM

MTB 40:00 [3]
shoes: SH-WM43

Up to the orienteering with M who was attempting to ride his road bike up Huntsbury. Now that was entertaining.

Orienteering race (OY Something - Mt Vernon) 1:51:02 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Oh the hilarity. Oh how much I hate orienteering! Couldn't find #14 despite aimlessly wandering round every boulder in existence in full view of basically everyone. I then lay down and had a bit of a nap...to be awoken by the Cleary Dad's heavy breathing. What's that? The control is less than a metre away from me? Oh, I guess I should punch it eventually. Then I toddled off and finished the course at a highly leisurely pace. I thought the course was a bit silly but then again I know how hard it is to set red courses on that area. But the most amusing thing is, after a quick look at winsplits to get my time so I could put it up here, I was in the (female) lead by several minutes before my, err, nap.
3 PM

MTB 20:00 [3]
shoes: SH-WM43

Back down the hill. M had to walk a bit on all the downhill gravelly fun. Silly road bikes (:-P) and I got blown all over the road by the wind.

Note

On an unrelated note but because it is hurting my heart so much and no one actually reads this far down, I miss my cat so much I sometimes fight to breathe. I thought I would get to see her today but I got my visiting hours confused and found you can't visit on Sundays. I think my heart is going to break.
