Walk 40:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Feeling a bit crappy today so when Michael got home I gave him the option of a walk or a jog. I should have known he'd pick the walk option! Was so cold by the time I got home.

Peloton (Spin) class 1:00:00 [4]

Man, I haven't done an early morning like this in ages! Lara suggested we should try the spin class at Pioneer so today was the day. They even had brand new bikes but the pedals hadn't been loosened and I couldn't get my bike shoes in no matter how hard I tried (the instructer even tried to force my foot in but it was a no go) so had to ride with normal shoes. As usual started off with way too much resistance so pretty much spent the rest of the class dying slowly!
3 PM

MTB 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Up Rapaki, along the usual tracks and down through Vic Park to Bowenvale and home. My legs felt surprisingly okay going up the hill but I just kind of lost all momentum and energy once I got on the Mt Vernon track. By the time I got home I wasn't feeling so flash. Hmmmm...

Wednesday Aug 29, 2012 #

6 PM

Run 1:25:38 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

From home to meet the Wednesday night run crew then up Bowenvale and the zig zag, some off track bashing then along the mtb track and down the valley and home again. Nice slow descent today as a contrast to last time as Matt's knee was not in a good way. Looked painful. My legs felt pretty dead today and my foot was a bit sore by the time I got home.

Tuesday Aug 28, 2012 #

8 AM

Run 1:09:49 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

From the parents' along Eastern Beach then a couple of different loops through Macleans and up through Murvale Reserve then back via Bucklands Beach.

Monday Aug 27, 2012 #

Note

Missed going to Mum's keep fit class as I was stuck in a meeting that went hours over time and had to take the last ferry (8pm) home. I did walk most of the way home from there though.

Orienteering race (Waiuku South OY) 1:50:45 [3] 9.28 km (11:56 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

Got slashed to pieces and mauled by the cutty grass which just made me feel grumpy and slow otherwise it might have been a bit more fun. Was so frustrating that the white forest was mostly green striped too. Silly mistakes: lots of general fluffing picking through cutty grass, #8 where I was too far to the left, #10 where I took a silly route then got the codes mixed up and thought I had gone too far and was at #11 so started heading back before I realised how dumb I was, #13 where I majorly overran it, lots of bumbling at #15, much cursing of cutty grass and brain fade at #19. It was so easy to be only a couple of metres from the control but not be able to see it at all. Anyway, could have been better but could have been lots worse so let's take that as positive!

Walk 1:15:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

Walk with Mum around the neighbourhood and beach. Thought about going running but felt too lazy!

Friday Aug 24, 2012 #

12 PM

Run 1:37:01 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

Ridiculously hot run from my parents along Eastern Beach, looping through Macleans Reserve a couple of times, getting lost trying to head down to the Marina so went round in a few more circles, along Bucklands Beach, up to Musick Point and then home. Like a ridiculous sauna out there. And then Mum tried to feed me hot soup when I got home...not gonna happen okay?

Thursday Aug 23, 2012 #

9 AM

Walk 2:30:00 [1]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Cabrakan 3

Up Helicopter Hill with Richard and Angela. Pretty cruisey pace but it is a big hill. Then we did heaps of walking around taking some promo pictures and checking out all the sights. After a rather early start this morning I was feeling a bit sleepy on the drive home but fortunately (being the driver) I managed to keep my eyes open.

Wednesday Aug 22, 2012 #

Note

A couple of hours of walking around over by the Bellbird today but very cruisey so I can't count it. I was pretty tired afterwards though.

Feeling pretty bad that I won't be mtbing this week but it would have been silly to go for a ride as well as Wed night run and I thought I better go to the run since I should be doing stuff with Emily (and Amber...but she didn't come in the end).
6 PM

Run 1:12:53 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Wednesday night run up Farm Track and Mt Vernon chilling at the back with Emily then at some far too fast pace for me down Rapaki. I couldn't keep up and felt a bit ill when I got home.

Monday Aug 20, 2012 #

7 PM

Run 41:33 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

A little run along the river then up the hilly route back home. I was supposed to run back along the river to get back but I think I am either allergic to, or have a phobia of, running on the flat...

Sunday Aug 19, 2012 #

11 AM

Rogaine race (Arydale Attack) 3:55:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Saturday Aug 18, 2012 #

Note

We took Richard and Angela on a rather long walk but it was nice and slow so it doesn't count :)

Note
(rest day)

SO much to do, SO little time! It's ironic really that this is called a rest day.

Wednesday Aug 15, 2012 #

6 PM

Run 1:46:02 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

From home to meet everyone at Zeros for Wednesday night run then up Worsleys via the forest and down the Harry Ell. Wasn't nearly as bad (muddy/slippery) as I expected. Feeling pretty good once I warmed up.

Tuesday Aug 14, 2012 #

12 PM

Run 1:03:28 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Cabrakan 3

Thought I'd see how bad Bowenvale was...yeah, I had to wade in thick, sinking clay stuff at one point where there was a slip across the gravel road then when I got up to the forest the ford across the river was flooded and kind of raging so I turned around and headed up hidden valley in the mud. Took it nice and slow since I didn't intend to climb this much. From the top of the zig zag just went straight back down Huntsbury and Major Aiken to home. The rain started again not long after I got home.

Climbing (indoor - TR) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Five Ten Anasazi Verde

The thought of doing something outside today didn't seem appealing especially after the very cold, wet and windy walk to the post box earlier so went climbing at the Roxx with Michael.

Sunday Aug 12, 2012 #

11 AM

Run 1:29:15 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Up through Vic Park, over the tops then down the Zig Zag into Hidden Valley and home. Very wet, cold, slippery and muddy and my hands were totally frozen by the end. On a more positive note, my legs felt pretty good despite the big ride yesterday. Yay! Had originally planned (with fingers crossed that the weather wouldn't be as horrible as forecast) to do a much longer run but the weather made me change my plans. But Michael has promised to drop me off at Halswell to do it another time instead.

Saturday Aug 11, 2012 #

2 PM

MTB 3:30:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Michael dropped me off at the top of Mt Pleasant Rd and I rode along the Greenwood Park and Godley Head tracks out to the end. Then back along the Godley Head track then along the road to the John Britten track which I lost fairly soon after starting so gave up and rode back then down the road and back home again via the valley. Struggled on the Greenwood Park track and it was quite muddy and slippery but the other track was awesome. Quite glad to finally get home again though. Was out of water and food by the end.

Thursday Aug 9, 2012 #

4 PM

Walk 1:20:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Up to the dog park then down through Vic Park and Bowenvale to home. Took longer than I expected.

Wednesday Aug 8, 2012 #

6 PM

Run 1:29:28 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Wednesday night run with my Spring Challenge team, Emily and Amber plus Al. From Emily's house up the Valley track (we found a tiny dead lamb and it was very sad) where we met the other guys coming down. Chris joined us and continued up to the top of Mt Vernon with me while the others went round the mtb track. Then down Huntsbury. Quite a cruisey pace, especially up the hill which was probably quite good since I'd spent the day moving heavy boxes.

Tuesday Aug 7, 2012 #

12 PM

MTB 1:25:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Up Rapaki, along the tops then down through Vic Park into Bowenvale (mostly via the 4wd track for the middle section). Feeling physically good but quite timid especially 'cause the tracks were a bit slippery.

Note

My Jamacian brother is the man!
3 PM

Run 1:41:17 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

From our house (yay to be back home again at last) up Bowenvale, attempting to take the downhill MTB track up to the Zig Zag but, because I am super talented, I somehow lost the track and ran through the tussock pretty much all the way to the bottom of the zig zag. I think I thought the track was below me when it was, umm, above me. Oh dear. Anyway, went up to the top of Mt Vernon then my favourite bush tracks, up to the top of Sugar Loaf then down through Vic Park into the valley and then back home. My tummy is doing lots of sort of sloshing/wacking around inside and it's not very nice and means I have to run slower, especially on the downhill. Need to work out quite why it's happening. But I like running in the hills by myself because my head goes quiet for a while.

Orienteering (Leithfield (medium red)) 1:14:51 [3] 5.7 km (13:08 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

So it started good then #3, #4 and #5 were disasters, each taking over 7 minutes (some closer to 8 minutes) when they should have taken a maximum of 2 minutes each. Felt pretty depressed after that but ran as fast as I could for the rest of the course and found everything fine, even the tricky forest bit I normally suck at. My running felt really good and smooth today but was pretty tired by the end. So on winsplits using times without mistakes I blitzed the field easily. But in reality I sucked.
3 PM

Orienteering 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

Bringing in most of the controls from the beach section. Got horribly lost trying to find what was my #3 and the other one close to it. Almost had to call for help. I did learn that I can't follow Michael's advice of bringing in some and leaving them somewhere while I get more because I will be unable to find the controls again even if I think it's somewhere super obvious. Pathetic?

Saturday Aug 4, 2012 #

Note

Yeah, carrying boxes and boxes of stuff down 2 flights of stairs and a steep driveway over and over again. Fell asleep on the couch at one point because I was so exhausted. And yet I still feel lazy for not doing any exercise. What is wrong with me?

Friday Aug 3, 2012 #

12 PM

MTB 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Just a little ride up Rapaki, round the road then down Huntsbury as all the single track is closed 'cause it's been so wet. SO windy coming back down. It was crazy!
3 PM

Run 40:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

The sun was out and it was beautiful so I went for a little run up the valley a bit then around eastside bush track back again. Had bike legs a bit to start with but felt pretty good by the end.

Wednesday Aug 1, 2012 #

6 PM

Run 1:21:47 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Despite it not being the valley I intended it was still fun. Up Bowenvale valley and on to the road of DEATH then over the bush tracks and up Mt Vernon then down zig zag and Bowenvale downhill track where Matt's foot went down through some hole in the mud and then, despite seeing this, I did the same thing! Was nice and muddy and wet but no rain. Yay! Followed by chocolate cake and hokey pokey ice cream. Pretty good day!
