1 PM

Road Bike 1:55:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Good times on the tandem with Michael, Emily and Al (well, obviously not everyone was on the tandem!). Up Dyers, along the tops, down the Basdrat, over to Governers then over the hill to home. The bottom bracket was not happy so that needs fixing but it didn't sound nearly as bad as what ever was wrong with Emily's bike!

4 PM

Run 1:15:27 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

From home over to Bowenvale, up the valley (up through the tussock once the track turned up to the ridge) then along the tops and down Latters Spur to home. Cold but I felt pretty good today.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

And back to feeling tired again so I am being good and taking another day off. Struggled to even ride the tank home this afternoon. I blame a depressingly frustrating physio this morning. Next stage is some appointment with one of their sports doctors which seems kind of pointless and frustrating but we shall see and then plan the next attack from there.

Wednesday Aug 28, 2013 #

6 PM

Run 1:17:21 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Wednesday night run burger edition. Scrambling up Montgomery Spur for a bit of excitment (and amusement watching Greig trying to get the buggy up!) then down into the valley and grovelling up to some other high point above farm track then down into the next valley and down Dry Creek. Feeling pretty good today.

6 AM

Peloton (Spin) class 50:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Fun times at pioneer with the crew. Feeling absolutely shattered afterwards and struggled on my ride to work!

11 AM

Walk 1:20:00 [1]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

From the cabin up to Devil's Punchbowl with Michael. Too many stairs but at least it stopped me doing something silly and joining the others on their mission! Then we met Viv and the cafe and she had a look at my wrist. I need answers so I can start looking ahead.

Run long 7:50:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

The Casey-Binser loop with Michael. Epic.

Friday Aug 23, 2013 #

10 AM

MTB 1:20:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Awesome ride up Rapaki, along the tops then down through Vic Park (mostly on the 4wd track but a tiny bit of fun times switchbacks). I did have to get off and walk the odd bit because I completely started panicking at the sight of anything even remotely as steep as the crash site (hence venturing off the 4wd track and onto the singletrack because the incline completely terrified me even though I've raced down there many times in the past) but mostly it was all rather awesome.

Thursday Aug 22, 2013 #

7 PM

Road Bike (wind trainer) 30:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Nice little spin to stretch out the legs while Michael did his exam.

Strength and Conditioning 5:00 [3]

Would have done more but got distracted by the phone ringing.

Wednesday Aug 21, 2013 #

6 PM

Run 1:16:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Mexican Wednesday night run complete with random outfits and lots of delicious beans afterwards!

Tuesday Aug 20, 2013 #

6 AM

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 50:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Usual crew for the good times at Pioneer. Did the heavy intervals or whatever they are called sitting down which was quite an awful torture but better on the wrist.
4 PM

MTB 1:30:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Up Rapaki and Mt Vernon, along the traverse then back along the road to Rapaki, down again and home. Oh man, epic wind. Kinda awful at times. Got blown off the track heading up Mt Vernon and on the road back I could ride up one rise faster than I could ride down the other side into the headwind. Wrist was okay on the way down until the last 1/4 of the gravel when it was sore and over it so that was pretty good.

Monday Aug 19, 2013 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

SO much to do! Such a bad day!

Sunday Aug 18, 2013 #

Walk 2:15:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310

And back out again. I didn't want to leave the sunshine!

Saturday Aug 17, 2013 #

Walk 2:30:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

Nice little tramp to a hut on the sunny West Coast with Clare, Greig, Ebba and Michael.

Friday Aug 16, 2013 #

12 PM

Run 1:47:49 [3]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

Up and round and all that stuff. Was beautiful in the sunshine and I felt better by the time I got back.

Thursday Aug 15, 2013 #

Note
(injured)

Things are bad bad bad at physio. Not good news at all :-(
3 PM

MTB 1:25:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Up Rapaki (with a 10 minute stop halfway up to wait for blasting...the big explosion was quite exciting and then I found a biggish rock on the track further up), Mt Vernon, traverse then down old Dyers (yeah, got sucked in by what looked like a new surface but it's only for the first 1/3 and the rest is still the same boggy stuff as usual for this time of year) and the road to home. It was okay. The weather was awesome though.

Wednesday Aug 14, 2013 #

6 PM

Run 1:30:54 [3]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

Wednesday night soup run from Greig and Clare's. Pretty big turnout tonight...I guess a lot of people like soup? Up Kennedy's and to the top of something, then round something else and back down. Good times.

Tuesday Aug 13, 2013 #

6 AM

Peloton (Spin) class 50:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Even Michael made it up this morning for the good times. I was much more awake this week too. Silly "heavy" intervals or whatever they were caused my wrist to be in quite some pain so if she does those again next week I'm going to have to modify it.

Monday Aug 12, 2013 #

2 PM

Run 30:04 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Super fast run home from school with my full backpack. Don't know how I did it but was over 1 minute faster than last time and I wasn't really going all that speedy. Crazy!

Strength and Conditioning 15:00 [3]

Sunday Aug 11, 2013 #

3 PM

Walk 45:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Nice little walk with Michael up the hill in the cold and wet! So brain-fried.

Saturday Aug 10, 2013 #

6 AM

Run 1:30:34 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Early start to get in a run before Code Camp. Round the road then up the new (?) track that runs along above the Valley track then up Mt Vernon and down Huntsbury and Major Aiken. So ridiculously thick mist. Felt a bit sluggish in the legs on the climb to start but was okay by the final climb. Bit hungry on the descent.

Friday Aug 9, 2013 #

2 PM

MTB 1:30:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Up Rapaki and Mt Vernon then along the traverse. Down to the kiwi then back along the road to Huntsbury and down. Got off on some of the bumpy things. My wrist hurts worse for the weirdest of things so I haven't figured out what I can and can't ride. This getting back to riding is going to be one hell of a mental challenge again. The tiniest sensation and I was panicked. But in reality I am doing extremely well (thank you M for putting this all into perspective for me!). It could realistically be at least the end of the year before my wrist makes it to something like 80%. I think my pain tolerance has definitely increased though which helps!
5 PM

Note
(injured)

Followed the ride with a nice walk with Clare and Ebba which definitely eased out my tired legs. Wouldn't it be nice to be pushed up the hill wrapped in a warm sleeping bag on a freezing cold afternoon?!

Thursday Aug 8, 2013 #

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Feeling shattered so postponed ride till tomorrow.

Wednesday Aug 7, 2013 #

6 PM

Run 1:00:38 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Wednesday night run spa pool edition. From Pioneer up to the dog park and back via all the cool tracks. Everyone was setting a pretty speedy pace today I survived! Then it was good times in the wave pool and spa!

Tuesday Aug 6, 2013 #

6 AM

Peloton (Spin) class 50:00 [4]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Good times at Pioneer. Haven't done this in a while and was a bit tough getting up this morning but I think I managed to look like less of a zombie than Matt. Next week shall be entertaining when we attempt to drag Michael and Viv out of bed early too!
4 PM

Walk 50:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

Because it was too beautiful a day to waste and I was too tired to do anything else.

Strength and Conditioning 10:00 [3]
(injured)

Monday Aug 5, 2013 #

Note
(injured)

Progress is painfully slow at physio. Very little movement is coming back and it's every day pain level has definitely increased (although that is probably cycling related). Trying a new mobilisation technique this week...fingers crossed it helps. On a more positive note I think it might be pretty much just my right thumb that is still numb so that's at least some progress!
6 PM

Run 33:02 [3]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

Cruising the streets with Michael. Even felt okay going up Major Aiken so recovery after yesterday seems good.

Sunday Aug 4, 2013 #

1 PM

Run long 2:59:14 [3]
(injured) shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310 (grey)

From Bowenvale up through Vic Park and along the tops to the Bellbird. Bit of a loop down in the bush then back along the tops to Mt Vernon and back down into the valley. Should have eaten more before I left home as had to stop only 20 minutes in to eat in order to stop myself falling over! Silly me.

Saturday Aug 3, 2013 #

3 PM

MTB 55:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Cruising round Bottle Lake with Michael. There were some interesting route choices early on through the tussock stuff where we were trying to work out the new detour. Was quite fun!

Friday Aug 2, 2013 #

7 PM

Road Bike (wind trainer) 35:00 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Nothing exciting to report other than that I had a wicked headache from far far far too much sugar.
