Walk 45:00 [1]
(sick) shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Ambling in the cold cold forest while the others were out running and biking. Met Jan and Sophie at one point which was quite nice. Jan was saying how lovely the weather was. I was trying not to freeze at this point and my hands had turned purple! She must be warm blooded. Sophie didn't look very warm to me!

Run race (Mt Isobel Challenge) 1:10:59 [3]
(sick) shoes: Icebug Aceleritas 4

A rather feverish amble up Mt Isobel. Had a bit of a feverish temperature overnight and was aching all over which is always a good start but, because I am stubborn, couldn't let M down. Figured I could pretty much just walk the whole way anyway. Just took it super easy jogging to the start of the forest where everyone slowed to a crawl anyway so I just hung out there and passed people when I got frustrated with their progress. Then, which was really quite a funny novelty for me, got frustrated at the slowness of people descending! Must be the power of icebugs in the mud. Got into transition to find M was not at all ready to go! He got hassled mercilessly by the marshells and other competitors around him. I was amused! We'll have to come back next year when we're not so shattered and sick.

Run warm up/down 31:40 [3]
(sick) shoes: Icebug Aceleritas 4

Cruising back down the road from Jack's Pass. Probably should have taken one of the many lifts offered in retrospect but I thought I was feeling okay by then. I was wrong. Oh well. It is quite a nice gradient and the views were nice.

Note
(sick)

Walking to meet M. It's cold outside!

Wednesday May 25, 2016 #

6 AM

Run 39:14 [2]
(sick) shoes: Icebug Aceleritas 4

Tootles in the valley in the drizzle. Good lord! Not sure I could actually go any slower!!

Tuesday May 24, 2016 #

Note
(sick)

More work. It's like websites at work then websites at home. Just want to laze on the couch or something.

Monday May 23, 2016 #

Note
(sick)

Too much work to do. Feeling pretty awful anyway.

Sunday May 22, 2016 #

Rogaine (TWALK) 7:00:00 [3]
(sick) shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Definitely sick by this point so no leg 5 for me.

Rogaine (TWALK) 13:00:00 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Good times with M, Matt, Lara, Penny, Jamie and Chris. Feeling pretty awful to be honest and felt sicker and sicker as it all went on. Didn't help that it was so freezing. But was pretty amazed that we were doing so well considering our speed was almost non-existant, especially by leg 4 where Penny and I walked pretty much the entire road section.

6 PM

Run 1:23:48 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Exciting times up Worsleys and through the forest with Matt, Lara and Georgia (for a little bit anyway). The southerly decided to come through quite unexpected on our way down...that was a little bit unpleasant.

Tuesday May 17, 2016 #

6 AM

Run 48:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Morning jog up the Harry Ell and all that jazz with M. A bit stormy and my light died so M was probably relieved that I couldn't run very fast after that!

Monday May 16, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

A bit tired after lots of broken sleep all weekend (and now definite proof that Molly Cat likes to roam on the kitchen bench after she sent a whole lot of stuff flying during the night...thanks for that wake up call my little fur ball). Plus M says he'll come running with me tomorrow morning!

Now time for the foam roller fun.

Sunday May 15, 2016 #

Road Bike 2:40:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Cold and mentally tired but I had to give it my best shot to help out M on his crazy climbing challenge. Ended up just driving to the cafe afterwards though for the desired cake instead of the planned extra biking loop.

Saturday May 14, 2016 #

Run 1:24:16 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Morning run in the sun. The hills are always awesome. Being careful to take it easy as I know I've been doing a lot of big stuff over the last couple of months and last weekend I was so mentally worn out I was quite keen not do anything for a while. Well we can see how that went!

Friday May 13, 2016 #

6 AM

Run 40:36 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Little run in the valley in the morning. So tired but this perked me up and probably helped get me through the crazy deadline at work.

Thursday May 12, 2016 #

6 PM

Road Bike 1:40:45 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Scary wind! We got up Evans Pass and nearly to the top of Mt Pleasant before the wind just got too much and too scary to carry on along the tops so had a very slow, careful descent down Mt Pleasant. That was a bit tragic as I was really enjoying being out on the bike again. All this running and long events has meant much less biking allowed and that was making me a bit sad.

Wednesday May 11, 2016 #

6 PM

Run 1:40:22 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Wednesday night run up Kennedy's. Feeling better than I expected but when one of the new girls wasn't keeping up I thought it might be a good idea to keep her company 'cause that would force me to slow down. I probably didn't want to slow down quite that much but it was still good.

Tuesday May 10, 2016 #

Note

Spending most of the evening relaxing in the dentist's chair. Now my jaw is so sore from holding my mouth open for so long! Serves me right for not going for something like 15 years!

Monday May 9, 2016 #

Note
(rest day)

I did stay up too long reading my book though...

Sunday May 8, 2016 #

Walk 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

With Emily round Bannockburn trails writing clues for her school camp adventures.

Saturday May 7, 2016 #

Rogaine race (Earnscleugh Rogaine) 11:55:00 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#4)

Fun times with Georgia. I smashed my compass and my knee and forearms within about 30 minutes which is the 2nd compass disaster rogaining with Georgia :-P
I was probably a bit slow for her but I did my best. It was a bit hard though 'cause I was feeling a bit mentally exhausted which isn't good for motivation and I get a bit (a lot) nervous about letting her down which isn't exactly helpful! I thought I did a very good job of not talking too much though!

Wednesday May 4, 2016 #

6 PM

Run 1:32:30 [3]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Wednesday night fun. Actually, this was fun but it felt far too long with the weekend looming.

Monday May 2, 2016 #

7 PM

Run 54:22 [2]
shoes: Merrell Allout Rush (#3)

Sand dancing with M at Bottle Lake.

Sunday May 1, 2016 #

9 AM

Run 1:31:17 [3]
shoes: Salomon S-Lab Sense 5 Ultra

Up the Captain Thomas, along the tops then back down the Scarborough Bluffs (still a mystery why the one called the bluffs track has no bluffs and the one with the bluffs isn't). Feeling slow and more than a bit funny in the tummy still. This is getting tiresome. Then, when I got home, I couldn't get my shoes off. Why do they have the most stupidest lacing system in the planet? Got all panicked after spending 15 minutes trying. Eventually managed to force my feet out of them. We had to run the locking system under water to loosen them in the end. Am I missing something here or is it really such a stupid system?
