MTB (MTBO) 2:15:00 [3]
shoes: Skulls

Training course out at Rob's place with Brent. I was completely buggered right from the start! Not my finest riding but not my worst either. Hopefully I survive next weekend! Brent's navigation wasn't too bad either.

Run race (P6 - Stage 1) 40:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Up the estuary (including swimming across a river!) then back down the track. Was supposed to be a rogaine format but was basically a there and back course. Glad we did the coastal strip first.

MTB race (P6 - Stage 2 mtb) 2:15:00 [4]

Pretty basic navigation and mostly on fairly easy tracks although there were some awful sandy tracks and some not so pleasant uphills that dragged on for ages (i.e. right at the very start)! Survived!!

Orienteering race (P6 - Stage 3) 1:50:00 [2]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Brent's knee was playing up so we walked this section and just got all the 100 pointers. Had a little bit of a meltdown in the bush crashing bit near the end where I got tangled up in epic cutty grass! Was a bit disappointed we couldn't run but we still covered a fair amount of ground.

Run race (P6 - Stage 4) 10:00 [4]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

Running down the road with our tubes (which we'd cleverly attached to the backs of our packs 'cause we're awesome like that!).

Misc race (P6 - Stage 4 tubing) 25:00 [3]

Down the estuary in our inner tubes. Glad Rob suggested we wear polypros for this section as it was fairly cold. The water wasn't that deep so you could basically push yourself along with your feet. It was almost relaxing!

MTB race (P6 - stage 5 mtb) 10:00 [4]

Down the road and back to get an extra 20 points. There wasn't any point by this stage of trying to get any of the other controls.

Note

We came second in our grade (mixed open pairs)! If we could have run stage 3 we would totally have beaten the other team so clearly we rock. Definitely worth doing all of the mystery activities (although we didn't score so hot in the NZ quiz...I'm now curious to know which ones we got wrong!). Awesome event.

Run 39:38 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

From the gym round the Domain twice. Nice weather. Tired thighs from last nights epic climbing mission. Felt better and a bit looser on the second lap.

Gym - Cardio warm up/down 15:00 [1]

On the cross trainer and the bike chatting with Alex while he finished his workout.

Climbing (Indoor - TR) 2:30:00 [3]

With Chris. If I thought last week was epic then, well, my fingers, arms and thighs are still shaking! We attempted our first 21. Got almost to the top (after some pretty hairy moments) but couldn't quite do it. One mother of an awful hold that I couldn't quite get my hand on and Chris couldn't get a grip on. Found an easier (well, only slightly) way to get past that awful bit on the orange...the sideways starfish (writing it here so I don't forget what I did). Yep, the hole in my shoe keeps getting bigger (and the left one is starting to get a hole too). Arm is in a lot of pain right now which is really not good.

Rowing Machine warm up/down 8:49 [4] 2.0 km (4:25 / km)

Terrible! Thought my arms were going to break off!

Gym (weights and core) 1:20:00 [3]

Orienteering race (SS Auckland Domain) 53:03 [3] 6.7 km (7:55 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

First of the summer series. Made a few silly mistakes with route choices (somehow managed to completely disorient myself getting to #12 on the hospital map...was impressed I could get myself so confused on such a course!). Legs felt tired especially after the climb up to the museum from right down the bottom. It was good fun though and I bet Allan by 1 second so that's a point to me. Yeah! Let the competition begin!
Me = 1; Allan = 0.

Run warm up/down 5:00 [2]

Peloton (Spin) class intervals 45:00 [4]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Couldn't face the thought of running after the weekend but felt like I ought to do something so thrashed myself at spin. Always a good way to kick-start your Monday!

Gym (core and stretches) 15:00 [2]
