Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

9 AM

Orienteering race (STB 5 - E.I.T.) 19:49 [4] 1.9 km (10:26 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

Took it pretty slow 'cause the maze of buildings was enough to do your head in and there were SO many controls! Didn't make any mistakes but just took so long to work out what was going on. Legs felt dead.
2 PM

Orienteering race (STB 6 - NBHS) 14:47 [4] 2.0 km (7:24 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

Still had a bit of a headache and my stomach hated me but managed to ignore that for most of the race. Nice to get under 15 minutes! Found the course pretty easy really. Only lost a little time bashing into the first hedge control a little too early.

Run warm up/down 30:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

9 AM

Orienteering race (STB 2 - Arataki) 15:23 [4] 1.9 km (8:06 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

Spent way too long looking for #1 (even worse than yesterday...probably spent a whole minute fluffing around!) and it took me until about the 3rd or 4th control to get my head into gear. Still had a bad headache and no speed in the legs.
2 PM

Orienteering race (STB 3 - The Reserve) 21:12 [3] 1.9 km (11:09 / km)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 285

I liked this map. Still, I thought I'd missed a control or mispunched or something after about #5 and spent the rest of the course wondering what I'd done wrong so consequently wasn't pushing it at all when I could have been. This terrain was better too 'cause it wasn't so flat.
7 PM

Orienteering race (STB 4 - Frimley) 18:20 [5] 2.5 km (7:20 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

Feeling awful again (felt okay in the afternoon) with an added stomach ache. What is wrong with me?! Somehow managed to get the legs working and caught up at least 2 of the girls starting ahead of me. Didn't see the gap in the fence I could have used for that long control so took the super long route but it sounds like most people did the same thing anyway. Had a nice sprint into the finish!

Run warm up/down 10:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

8 PM

Orienteering race (STB 1 - Havelock North) 19:57 [4] 2.5 km (7:59 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

Had a spliting headache again where the lumps on the back of my head were and felt a bit dizzy. I really don't travel well. Not sure if i can blame this for my shocking run though! Couldn't find the first control when it was literally right behind me (I completely panicked). Just generally mucked around too much until about #13 where I went to #14 instead but luckily realised just after I punched and went back (good thing it was a super short leg). The rest of the race was good but it was a bit late by then!

Run 46:37 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

OTH round the dirt track and another loop round the road (well, most of it). The rain was nice since it was so muggy. My left leg was feeling really sluggish and I felt super slow and crappy. The last 10 minutes felt good though! But afterwards I felt really nauseous and super achey. Hmmm, need more sleep (and preferably sleep that's not interrupted by nightmares). At least I'm not feeling so dizzy any more and I think the lumps on my neck might be going down.

Orienteering race (SS Unitec) 55:17 [4] 6.2 km (8:55 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 4

Started out feeling absolutely awful but improved a little which was vaguely reassuring. Still feeling pretty dizzy and achey and the lumps on the back of my head and neck haven't gotten any smaller...but they haven't gotten any bigger either. Legs felt okay though considering the weekend so that's good but there's no speed in them! Oh well, it'll be jog the bays for me (not that I could ever sprint anyway)! Oh yeah, did a stupid 180 going to 16 which must have cost me about 5 minutes as I blundered through the bush but other than that my brain seemed to work.

Note
(rest day)

Went for a longish walk with Julie in the evening but she was setting the pace so it was more of a wander and I didn't break a sweat so it's not counted. Not feeling to crash hot.

Walk 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 3

Up to the summit of OTH and back, keeping off the main tracks and road. My legs felt like running but I've had a really achey head (the back of the head) all day and just walking felt a bit uncomfortable. The fresh air was good but I should have eaten something before I left because I felt all shaky on the way back.
