Note
(rest day)

Walking along the track by the coast at Governers Bay with the parents and Michael after eating lots of delicious lunch. Then Michael went for a mtb ride while I stayed home with the parents feeling very jealous! I guess it's only fair though. My right foot is a bit sore at the moment. A bit frustrating in that the parents want to walk around everywhere when I'd like to be resting it or riding.

MTB 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

With Michael up Rapaki, along the traverse track then down through Vic Park, Dyers Pass and home. We were out for longer but some of it was looking at different tracks and assessing how to get down them. I'm getting there. Michael is pretty cool to ride with as he gets really encouraging and supportive and I don't feel like I'm a useless rider when I go with him. It was drizzly and cold but still fun.

Note

A couple of hours of walking up the hill then back down with the parents after lunch. So exhausted by the end.

Road Bike 57:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

From work up to SOK (via Hackthorne Rd) and home again. Feeling much better today. Then we had to clean the house for the parents and eat copious amounts of chocolate pudding to improve the mood. Raspberries are a good addition.

Climbing (indoor - TR) 1:30:00 [3]
shoes: Five Ten Anasazi Verde

At The Roxx with Michael. Feeling quite drained and frustrated today. Then at the top of the third climb I knocked the back side of my hand really hard and it hurt for the rest of the night. But overall it wasn't too bad. I just need to stop getting so grumpy!

Walk 14:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

Walked from home up Holliss Ave and the linking track to Longhurst Rd so I didn't have to run the really steep stuff but could still run up the hill. Michael's idea and it was a good one.

Run 1:01:38 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 5

From the bottom of Longhurst Drive along (up) Latters Spur Track to Cedrics Track then down that and along the Harry Ell, then back on the roads down Longhurst and Holliss Ave to home. Feeling better than expected plus the bonus of discovering extensions of tracks I didn't know about. I love hills. Running down the Harry Ell was painful though. Started to feel weary about a quarter of the way down!

Road Bike 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

From work out to Halswell Quarry and back home again. Stupidly I thought I'd go up the hill to the top of the quarry. Hit the wall really bad not very far up and was in granny gear the rest of the way and not really doing so well. Getting home again was quite the struggle! Oh well, at least the legs are still moving after the weekend. I am so tired though.

Run warm up/down 20:00 [2]

10 AM

Orienteering race 30:03 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite-285

Was having a pretty good race until I did a 180 coming out of #10 and it took me several minutes to work out what I'd done and where on earth I was. Then proceeded to stuff up #14 as well. Okay, I actually took a good route but I didn't realise that was the route I'd taken (thought I'd taken the other track) so I ran right past the control and all the way to #15. Didn't work that out very quickly either. Sigh. So frustrated as I would have had a pretty good time. I was almost as grumpy as Tane afterwards!
3 PM

Orienteering race 19:44 [4]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7

The first loop was pretty good. Managed to keep good contact with the map. The second loop, not so much. First control was okay but then had 2 or 3 really bad ones where I was completely disoriented. Ran round like a headless chicken. After #20 it improved though and I ended up with a little chain of people following me around the buildingsā€¦but I outran them. Pity they had started after me!
