Orienteering race (Hagley Park Maze) 36:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Not sure of actual time. Decided the maze course looked the most fun out of all the options and it turned out to be rather entertaining. Still snow (and lovely slippery ice) around just for added excitement and chill factor. Pretty easy but the maze bit was still tricky and there were some bits that fooled me a bit.

Walk 35:00 [2]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 5

It was too beautiful an afternoon (although freezing) to waste so I walked up to the top of our street then I remembered the mysterious track that had appeared the other day just off Longhurst so continued to check it out. It doesn't go all that far yet but perhaps they are building a new track all the way down the hill which would be awesome. I will have to keep checking in on it.

MTB 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Took Jenna from work out for a ride round Bottle Lake. Or at least that was the plan. It was still ridiculously snowy and icy and not very fun, especially for poor Jenna who'd never been mtbing before! So we mostly stuck to the 4wd tracks which were still icy and snowy but not as bad.

Run 37:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

With Michael up the Huntsbury Spur track to the road then up to Major Aiken to go down again. Stopped by Jenni and Carsten on the way home. Nice and cruisey but with a decent hill. Just what was required.

Fun times in the lounge. Can the ice just go away now please?

Note

Walked home from work trying to avoid the ice...which was basically impossible. Stopped at the supermarket halfway to get so weightlifting material for the rest of the walk home. I think it took about an hour and a half. Maybe longer? Who knows.

Not really training but not really resting either. Just life.

Note

So yeah, it's snowing. I didn't really expect that. Was only raining when I left for work this morning so pulled out my old mountain bike (just in case) and all my wet weather gear and rode to work. On the way the rain started to turn more, well, like ice falling out of the sky, then snow and by the time I got close to work all the roads were covered in it. Was only there an hour when they decided to shut the office. Fortunately the new girl (my replacement) is very kind and offered me and my bike a lift home.

Run 1:32:23 [3]
shoes: Inov-8 Flyroc 310

Wednesday night run in the snow! From the York St flat up Rapaki then down Farm Track. Quite slippery down the bottom of Farm Track and I was a bit wimpy. Didn't even need lights on the hill because it was so bright. It was amazing! So beautiful!

MTB 1:16:00 [3]
shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Just the usual. It was drizzling a bit up the top and I misjudged a rock and came off which had me a bit shaken for the rest of the ride. Totally poured down once I got to the road which made for a rather awful descent. Glad I got out before most of the rain though. Not convinced it's going to snow but I could be wrong.

Run 1:04:00 [3]
shoes: Mizuno Wave Ascend 6

Up Mt John through the bush and then down the long way round the lakefront. Michael is far too speedy for someone who hardly ever runs. It's not fair! There was a very heavy frost in the morning and it never really warmed up all day.
