Note

Had my specialist appointment today followed by buying sugary treats to console myself. He's decided on the conservative approach which is do nothing and he'll see me again in 6 months. I got the distinct impression he didn't really know what, if anything could be done. Taking out the plate could quite possibly make it just the same, if not worse. Was about what I suspected. I think basically, if the pain becomes unbearable and I can't deal with it like it is then he might try something but otherwise he will probably just leave it as is. Although I may have misinterpreted the whole thing...? Perhaps I should ask M what he got out of it!

Walk 54:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Mizuno Wave Nirvana 7 (blue)

Good times stomach pain. Did make it out for a walk though which was about the most I could do.

MTB race (Rabbit Island MTB Rogaine) 1:57:53 [4]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Other than more fences (which were a bit easier than yesterday but I was in a lot more pain) and my map board flying off so having to spend several minutes trying to fix that, it was okay. Quite a fun map although some mysterious mapping in places...

Put in our registration for the World Rogaine Champs. Fingers crossed we get in!

MTB race (NZ MTBO Champs) 2:14:53 [3]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Monte Rosa MTB

Yeah, not that great. I didn't get the memo about where the start triangle was and got confused by the control flag at the start itself so the map didn't make sense for ages, then we were told that you could ride through light yellow but not dark yellow (not correct) and this threw me so much I had no idea what to do for #2. Just stood staring at the map for ages in frustration. Then there were endless fences that didn't have opening gates which is all fine for everyone else but I can't lift my bike over fences any more. I probably lost at least 10 minutes trying and caused quite a lot of pain (on once fence alone, getting to #4, I spent a good 5 minutes at the stupid fence). Was pretty upset, frustrated and in pain by the time I got out of that section that I was over it which was sad 'cause it was much nicer after that. Riding was all fine I guess.

Note

Was just reading through the info for the MTBO champs in the weekend. I feel like I am going to throw up. At the start of the year I had some big goals. Now my only goal is to somehow finish and not have a panic attack. I am so scared though I feel like whats the point of even trying. And I'm scared everyone will say, 'look at Katie, she's so useless at riding her bike'. I used to be afraid of falling off because falling off was scary and gave you a fright. I mean, I even remember the pep talk I gave myself before the crash. I remember trying to convince myself that the worst that would happen was that I would fall off and that wasn't so bad...but then it was so much worse than I ever imagined and left me with permanent damage to my wrist and hand. I have tried so hard to be positive about it but I'm so tired of pretending that I'm okay.

Road Bike warm up/down 28:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Riding out to the race start and a bit of a warm up before our start. Feeling a bit tired in the legs.

Road Bike race (Old Tai Tapu Rd TimeTrial) 25:39 [4] 16.0 km (1:36 / km)
(injured) shoes: Louis Garneau Revo XR

Time Trial along Old Tai Tapu Rd with M on the tandem. Tough race tonight. We both had tired legs after the long weekend and it was very blustery with some strong funtimes headwinds. Worked really hard and was pretty happy with the time. Feeling confident we can definitely get under 25 if it wasn't so windy.

Road Bike warm up/down 27:00 [2]

Home again into the wind. Yep, legs have nothing left!
