Trail Run race 26:26:00 [4]

Laverado ultra trail. stress for the last 10 months due to injuries. Turns out my injury is L5 (lumbar spine). Degenerative which perhaps overuse??? Which in turn radiates pain into glutes/hamstring. Physio and chiro can give me relief for a short time, the. When it flares up I am running with about 60% efficiency. Prior to race rehab made me feeling good going into race. First two hours it kicked in again. I took Advil and really focused on long strides on the uphills and miraculously the pain went away, leg was operating with efficiency and I felt great.

Ms. Gally and I committed to this race together no matter who was hurting (as long as we could get in under 30 hours). We never considered leaving one another. (Except she kept worrying I was going to fall off a cliff and I finally had to tell her I was FINE) We both had our moments, perhaps Ms Gally was visiting the bushes a little more than normal but she kept a great attitude throughout.

Ms. Gally's report touched on the bottle necking, 5 deep people in aid stations, lack of food and the 15 minute wait in one aid line up, I definitely think there is room for improvement from an organization standpoint, but the race was well organized beyond that, communication leading up and post race was great and beautiful scenery.

Great company and dinners with Canadian gang made this quick holiday so pleasurable. Considering I pulled 2.5 over nighters in a 4 day holiday I came home feeling rested and ready to conquer my family again.

I feel to thankful we get these opportunities!
