Baltic champs, WRE. It was pretty warm day and was super freaked out that my body with show middle finger as did on 2nd day of Vilnius. But surprisingly body liked the heat and started strong from the very beginning. Physically felt really well, but noticed soon enough my navigation is dropping a bit behind - so the first route choice mistakes came quite early - on 4th (went straight through the hill and hesitated near control), no 6 - headed out to the right, but then changed my mind and went through the forest on the left left. But the real problems started on butterfly as started to feel a bit light headed - straight away lost time on the first two controls by failing to keep direction and hesitating too much. Then went from 10 to 12, by skipping other butterfly loop - I tried to double check, but somehow it seemed ok. Realised I did something wrong only after I got drink and gel at 12, then to 11 and back - nice 2.5min gone.. Was really happy leaving butterfly and could pick up speed again. Some hesitation on the long leg in control area - energy of gel was gone and again started to feel light headed. Physically started to suffer at 19, on that killer hill and on the top just couldnt find control - had this moment when I stand still in the forest, look at the map and have no idea which direction the control is.. But the biggest fail of the day came on the next control where again I took wrong route choice straight (though I saw the right one on the left). Midway I got the high HR and it took me more than 5min to recver. Got a bit worried as last time I had it so long was like 8-9 years ago. After that basically jogged to the finish. Was 16min behind Denisova, when splitbrowser counted 11min of mistakes..
Really disappointing, event tough had really good start (in the lead till no 3, second till butterfly - ~30min running) but finish result sucks. I Hope I will learn couple of lessons:
1. Try to manage stress before important competitions and make sure I get at least 7h sleep at least 3 night before.
2. Always get 2 gels in the long - never know when u need that extra sugar.
3. Use gears even I feel physically well..
