Vilnius Rogaining with Tekle in Antras Dublis. 2nd place - 30 points down to Monika and co. Planned quite well - clockwise with some zigzagging in Sapiegine, back to belmontas and finishing via town. But made one planning mistake - skipped one control in Sapiegine/antakalnis (no42), so got it later when it was dark. So had to skip 44 later. But even without making this mistake would hardly could make in time - were quite in a hurry the last 5-6km and did pretty uncomfortable nasty running last 2-3km. In general felt much better than in Siauliai - seems change of terrain worked out well - in hills were much walking and using different muscules. Also never ran out of water - got refuelling after 33km at kiosk - water + coke. Some suffering kicked in the last 4-5km which I think was partly due the increased pace and skipping the last 'meal' (and also 40km ran before) Totally consumed 2 GU gels, 1/2 Hematogen, 1.5 musli bars, 1/2 banana. Banana was really good for belly and energy levels - should get more in the next rogaining. GU was nice and thick- really good for such activities, but bad for more intense races.
It was missunderstood in the finish as we were anounced as winners and then at the prize giving ended up 2nd - seems winners didnt get punch of stolen control, so when realized they lost by 10 points - asked organizers to include those points into their baggage.. anyway they were way stronger physically, but not technically - they ran 10km more - party of course by skipping main part of Sapiegine and bye getting nearly all Verkiai and Turniskes controls.
