Friday Nov 2, 2007 #

canoe 1:00:00 [3] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

usara nationals. Race started with a short canoe section, glenn and I were one of the first to the canoes, but everyone else went on the land side of the canoe pile to pick one out. we went to the water side and just yanked one straight out of the pile and into the water in one motion. We tried to adjust the seat while mari ran down from getting the passport but our fingers were too cold. ended up leaving mid pack but passed a bunch of teams to finish the section in 6th or so.

orienteering 1:30:00 [3] 5.0 mi (18:00 / mi)
shoes: montrail continental divide

first trekking orienteering section, cps in any order.

mountain bike 3:00:00 [3] 25.0 mi (7:12 / mi)

bike section. picked off teams thru the ride, missed a turn to one checkpoint that cost 5-10 min and 4 or so places.

running 2:00:00 [3] 10.0 mi (12:00 / mi)
shoes: montrail continental divide

running section, passed a few teams right out of the transition when they missed the trail turn off. we felt good and ran hard and nav good.

canoe 4:00:00 [3] 10.0 mi (24:00 / mi)

canoe section on a shallow river. lots of portage and dragging the canoe, moat caught us and they were much better at getting thru the shallows and over logs, but we paddled slightly faster. kept them in sight until the end.

running 4:00:00 [3] 10.0 mi (24:00 / mi)
shoes: montrail continental divide

started the run with moat and ran away from them. took a different route to one cp and were then about 10 min back, but caught up to them and ems at the last cp that was hard to find, they found it and it took us 1 hr.

mountain bike 2:35:00 [3] 25.0 mi (6:12 / mi)

bike to the finish. started with a long singletrack section and then gravel roads.
